Don't pay attention to the hype surrounding our class finishing in the Top 10 in the recruiting services. We may very well do so, but I am seeing that Coach Dooley is getting football players, and not just athletes. Talent is good to have, but you have to have what is between the ears, in order to succeed at this level. Just being able to run fast in a straight line may get some people a scholly, but I want those nasty every down type players that he seems to be bringing in. I say, well done Coach Dooley, and keep it up.

Great post Eric, thanks. It makes me think of Wes Brown.

How can you possibly come to those conclusions by watching a high school highlight tape?

Because, typically the more cerebral players are the ones that want to be in there game in and game out making plays for you and leading your team. They are the team players that are natural born leaders and get the team to rally around them.

I have noticed that his targets are smart. That is important. NuKeese couldn't get on the field too much b/c he couldn't figure out the already dumbed down offense we threw at Crompton.

On the rankings, I know they aren't important, but it feels good to be there after what happened 2 weeks ago!

And the Vols have the King of all cerebral players...

here, here, to Saint Peyton!

Go Colts! Go Vols!

You've never seen those players that don't have the greatest measurables but always seem to get to the ball, get off a block, or make a play in the clutch?

As much as I hate to say it... (i.e. Tim Tebow)

Again, how can you tell that they are natural born leaders and have the desire to play hard every down? I'm just not sure how you made that assessment.

I think its safe to say that eric is happily drinking the DD kook-aid tonight...haha, I'm right there with ya! V,B

Not at all, I'm seeing someone that is probably a harder worker than Kiffin ever thought about being, IMO. Not to mention, he's smart as hell and a VERY personable guy. Quite the contrast of our last coach.

It's tough to get a consistent read anyway...

Rivals is the most accurate

ESPN uses Scout but they control the airwaves so this is what you will hear about the most and all they care about are their Under-Armor 150.

Tennessee will look much better on Rivals than on ESPN - which really hurts watching NSD on all the ESPN networks.

ACT scores, GPA, SAT scores, things like that. The smarter people tend to be more leaders than followers, at least in my worldly experiences anyways.

This is why I really want James Stone. He has the talent and an awesome head on his shoulders.

Yeah you gotta give Coach Dooley props, he's been working his ass off and I believe that will show on the field next season.

Everything that Kiffin lacked as far as character and leadership seems to radiate off of Coach Dooley (thus far). I also agree that bringing in guys with high GPA's and test scores is a very good sign. Those numbers can be just as important as 40 times and bench presses when it comes to leadership and locker room presence.

I'm very optimistic about the future of the program right now.

I am on the Kool-aid to Eric. But a dose of good ole realty dosen't hurt sometime either.

We have 22 commits and only 4 are OL or Interior DL. I hope Stone is in, and a few more for that matter..

IMO, believe it or not, some of these kids we are excited about today, may be on the outside looking in on NSD.. If some of our target lineman come aboard, You can almost guarentee it..

GBO and CDD

I'll take the wait and see on Dooley's approach to recruiting right now. I surely hope all these guys can play at the SEC level.

Kiffin left us in a tough spot. Remember though, we could still see some surprises NSD, but also, it's going to be easy selling playing time to OL prospects next year. This year will be a wash, season wise, IMO.
