I was listening to the sports animal today and a caller named Justin called in. He said the only thing he didn't like was the fact the coaching staff wasn't put together and we weren't #2 or #3 in the nation in recruiting in the nation. People just don't have any patience. Jimmy Hyams agreed with him. Is that even realistic? Jimmy sucks, and I can't believe people have such crazy expectations. Even the recruits we have were recruited originally by Fulmer, so Lane has a lot of work to. Especially with new recruits. To me people just don't seem to think about these things.

To be honest I was hoping we would pull in a better recruiting class. I was hoping the excitement of the new coaching staff and the personalities would be an instant draw. Totally unrealistic I know, but I can wish can't I?

Wishing is fine. I wish things too, but to be totally upset if we don't get it is a little harsh. I wish Candace Parker was carrying my child. But I'm not mad at her!

I think it has been. We've gotten a lot of interest from candidates that weren't looking at us before. Might get a surprise or two.

I just think it's unrealistic for some people to expect the new staff to immediately start bringing in a top 5 class when they've been on the job for a month. Recruiting is more than a 3 month ordeal.

The 2010 and 2011 recruiting classes should be a much better representation of this staff's ability.

I will be very happy if we maintain our #15 ranked recruiting class. We are pulling in some good athletes and should get atleast 1 or 2 big time recruits by Feb 4. If we get Brown and King I could see us moving up to 12 or 13. As long as we fill what we need to with the players CLK thinks will fit his system I'll be happy even if we drop to 20 or so. Wait till next year we should have a top 5 class then(if nothing unforseen happens, i.e. coaches leaving).

Expecting anything other than mediocre play for the first 2 years is an unrealistic expectation. Anything better means CLK is a great coach. Give atleast one full cycle of recruiting (4 years) to see where the program is going to be in the future. 2012 should be the year that we are a force to be reckoned with.

 People just do not get it at all do they...I will be happy if we turn this thing around...No way we would ever #1 or #2 for that matter with new blood at the top and a complete reconstructure of the staff...People really need to wake up and as for Hymens nothing needs to be said...He is an idiot!

Mediocre play..........we might not win like we wish, but I'm assuming better coaching will turn our play around quickly....Having the desired or needed talent I understand short comings.....but terrible play isn't what I'm expecting. A good coaching staff will have our team fired up and ready to play. To get beat by speed or talent I can deal with for now, but confusion and always out of place I’m sick of. That’s why we needed a change, don’t settle for going through the motions like the past sometimes…..Get after it or let the next man in the game.

People dont understand, coaches build relationships earlier, so our staff hasnt had good chance.

A better recruiting class? Considering everything that has happened I think we have a SOLID class this year. This isn't Field of Dreams here. We are going to be fine.

And to the person who said we shouldn't expect anything more than mediocre play this year.... What do you say to that? I just don't know.. Let's keep our heads fellers....

I agree, totally. The really good recruits have been wooed by schools for at least a couple of years. Relationships have been established and trying to recruit the last month or two against something like that makes chances highly unlikely a recruit will change their mind. That is the uphill battle this staff is facing.

I think even if we end up top 20, I'm ok with that. With the coaching change, the bad record etc, I think it's been great that CLK has been able to keep most of em and land some more. It seems to me that he and the staff will really blow people's doors off in recruiting starting next year.:eek:k:

Top 15 - 20 class will be great considering the late season coaching turnover and pathetic product we fielded this past season. Nick saban's first bama class, and CUM's first gator class weren't any better if I remember correctly.

Hyams was kind of critical of clk a few days ago on the zone for not having his staff together said it was really hurting recruiting. Also made it sound like we were losing alot of commited recruits.I got the feeling that hes not happy with our new coaching staff so I turned his a-s off.

We don't get Hyams here in Chattanooga, but sounds like we're not missing much. The local sports talk show here seems upbeat on CLK.

I think he has done good so far...we do have Trent Richardson coming for a visit....wow, just think if we landed Richardson and Marlon Brown :)

Wishful thinking, I am sure

You should be doing that anyway. He knows nothing and has now lost his ability to be an insider so he's whining.

Last week they asked what he thought of Garner as a coach, and he said he didn't like him because they had unresolved issues between each other. Which, of course, has everything to do with Garner's coaching ability.

Hyams is a moron.
