Either radio interview or article. Jason Laymon was highly recruited defensive lineman for the Vols who moved to oline. He was the guy that told Peyton to stfu and call the play after jerry colquitt got injured, and Todd Helton failed to save the day against UCLA. I would love to hear his side of the story and what he thinks of Peyton now. It would make a great interview.:good!:

I can still see him leading a screen or reverse against VATECH at Ben Hill Griffin during the Gator Bowl. I have never seen a lineman out run the back down the sideline like that. I was ROFL for about 10 minutes.

I liked him too but he make a bone headed mistake. He was playing a pick up game of basketball in the off season and got injured. This made the Titans so mad that they cut him before the season started........

Had he remained healthy, he could have staying in the league many, many more years and gotten paid.....

He only played for (4) seasons. Offensive tackles are known for playing for excess of 10 to 15 seasons in the NFL.

I knew he didn't last long, but I never heard the reason. Big dummy!

He ripped the urinal out of the wall at the Lap one night. He was a bad dude! They spent enough time together after that 94' UCLA game... They are friends.

In case of nuclear attack, hide under the urinal at The Lap.

Ain't no one hit it yet....

Yes, I drank many a pitcher at Ivys. Had the little courtyard in the back.

Do u remember The Library?

I hope uou don't mean The Library in midtown Atlanta? :)

no. He means the Library where many a student informed their parents they were going to the Library that night but the parents never understood why their grades didn't go up.

Yes of course I do. Wednesday night 5-4-1 in mason jars. My fav story was I was young and didn't know too much about drinking and this girl talked me into getting this oh-so-awesome drink called a Fuzzy Navel cause it was sooo good. Had one at the 5-4-1 and I didn't even remotely have a buzz. After I asked and found out it was peach schnapps and it was 40 proof. All I could think was I wasted $5 and got nothing out of it. (remember, $5 was a lot back then)

Kelly Ziegler-Go Out with him... return 3 days later

Lol....good times!

I meet and talked to Kelly, wife and daughter in the Portland airport a couple of years ago. Their son played for Tennessee Tech and they were there to see them play Oregon. Nice folks....they live somewhere around Nashville. Gallatin maybe?

No no...scared to ask.

This Library was on the strip.

What was the name of the dance club in Knoxville that burned down in around 1982ish? It was not on the strip.

Are you remembering Uncle Sams near Alcoa/Sevierville? College student nights on Thursdays, pitcher nights there too. Alcoa Highway back to campus was heavily patrolled by the local police every Thursday through Saturday night. Good times, good times.

Another player that is happy there were no camera phones. He'll, that includes those of us that didn't play college football as well, but fellas, our old teams would be in trouble all the time if there were.

Thursday nights were also rock and roll nights for a while at the end of the disco era (took too long to end). They served beer and setups (BYOB) and their own hot dogs. And that lighted dance floor . . . :dance2:

I remember the Lap & Library.... Ivy's sounds familiar.... Was that the dance type club just up the strip?? That place was a blast... I think it turned into something Else....

There was a bouncer in there so big, we called him the "statue".... Big dude that played line for UT I think

Big Rick- bouncer at Ivys
Marvin- bouncer at the Lap

Both really good people to know in the early 90's

I thought Big Rick was at The Lap. Maybe he moved there when Ivys closed. He was a great one to know.

Ivys was a good place to avoid. Touchdowns kind of behind Pizza Hut, now that was stellar.
