I thought Big Rick was at The Lap. Maybe he moved there when Ivys closed. He was a great one to know.

Ivys was a good place to avoid. Touchdowns kind of behind Pizza Hut, now that was stellar.

90 was my freshmen year. Big Rick was at Ivys. It was not open for long. It turned into a few different places. Flamingos etc...
Those dive bars were so cool. At the same time the lap was serving free popcorn and chicken tenders to draw the underage crowd. Bush tall-boys were a delicacy.

Are you remembering Uncle Sams near Alcoa/Sevierville? College student nights on Thursdays, pitcher nights there too. Alcoa Highway back to campus was heavily patrolled by the local police every Thursday through Saturday night. Good times, good times.

Yes! Uncle Sams! That was fun times.

As I remember, they had a couple of pool tables.

I remember playing the air guitar to AC/DC Back in Black there.....lol!

Lol....good times!

I meet and talked to Kelly, wife and daughter in the Portland airport a couple of years ago. Their son played for Tennessee Tech and they were there to see them play Oregon. Nice folks....they live somewhere around Nashville. Gallatin maybe?

Greenbrier. He coached my little league football team

Big Rick was at The Lap before that. He threw me out so many times that it got to where when he was ready to toss me, he would just give me a thumb point to the door, a "good night, buddy" and I would return the same and make a beeline back to my abode.

The last I heard about Laymon was he worked for a bank in Sevierville--I believe it was either Tennessee State Bank or Citizens National Bank. That was a few years ago.
