One Korea ... Soon?

I don't know a soul, on either side, who wouldn't be happy to see Trump win denuclearization of North Korea.

Don't kid yourself. The DNC was all kinds of giddy when the summit was cancelled the first time. They know, like many of us do, that a foreign policy win of this magnitude will be extremely damaging to their party.

If he fails at the negotiating table, they can jeer him even more.

Yeah, they're that childish.

I also don't know a soul, on either side, that thinks its likely.

I wouldn't say that since, again, we are in uncharted waters when it comes to the tactics Trump's been using. And to my knowledge, the PRC has never put pressure on them either.

We'll see.

Lets see, is peace more likely if you meet face to face in negotiations or is it better require total capitulation before any meeting can take place?? Maybe its better to stand on the sidelines and bet it won't happen so you can say I told you so. I don't know....lets wait and see. 3 prisoners released and a pow wow in place (no offense to the Native Americans), pretty good for a non-politician.

Anyone else read where the Senate Democrats have come up with a list of "conditions" they expect any deal Trump makes with NK to meet? I honestly laughed given how upset they were after Trump tore up Obama's sham Iran deal. I think they're afraid Trump might actually accomplish peace on the Korean peninsula and they won't be able to grab any credit. Sad.

Several on the GOP side have said it should be done as a treaty, to force Senate review.

Senate review isn't the same as laying out a set of "conditions" in advance. We both know that.

Several on the GOP side have set out conditions, such as guaranteed site visits to verify any agreements. As I recall, the lack of that drove a lot of the GOP criticism of the Iran deal, so now that the shoe is on the other foot, that's an unacceptable thing suddenly?

First, I have not read where the GOP has set out conditions. Provide me a link and I will get informed.

Second, Obama made a weak deal without Congressional approval. A deal, that from my understanding, even his fellow Dems didn't really support in the beginning. But they had no problem throwing a fit about it when Trump chucked it.

Third, Obama actually had a deal in place, an extremely weak deal, but still a deal. It was open to be criticized. The Dems are laying out demand for a deal that has yet to be made. Let Trump do his thing, make his deal if he can, then when it's brought to the table, it can be scrutinized to everyone's delight. Until then, everyone in Congress, notice I said everyone, needs to sit down, shut up, and let things happen. I fully support it going in front of Congress. I also fully support it being measured on its merits, and not undercut simply because Trump negotiated it. With something like this, petty politics should be set aside. Let's see what actually comes from all of this before we start shouting about "conditions". It's an obvious political play on the Dems part at this point. If you have an iota of common sense, you know that as well as I do.

The left is terrified that a Nobel Peace Prize will result.

terrified.

Don't even know if the rocket man is serious yet and Dumbs already laying down the rules, funny. Dumbocrats were fear mongering nuclear war just 2 months ago now they are predicting nothing will come of the summit. Seems like they would just be happy negotiations are underway? Where were they when Obama was dealing with Iran? He sent an airplane full of cash without congressional approval, WTF?

It was Iran's money ($400 million + $1.3 billion representing 25 years worth of interest). Obama didn't need congressional approval to settle our debt. I feel like I've explained this 100 times.

Also, Dennis Rodman will be in Singapore... so, no worries! There will be at least one American in the room with more maturity than Trump.

I haven't seen anything about pallets of cash.

Where does that come in to play regarding the Democrats conditions?

Why cash?

Why did it have to be in cash?

I honestly thought this might have been a couple of Senate Dems wanting some election year publicity.

Nope.

Chuck Schumer, Dems give Donald Trump their list of conditions for North Korea nuclear deal - Washington Times

Senate Democrats inserted themselves Monday into President Trump’s negotiations with North Korea, handing him a list of conditions for a denuclearization deal and cautioning him not to get snookered by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Demanding a role in the deal making, Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer and top congressional Democrats said they feared Mr. Trump would cave in at the June 12 summit with Mr. Kim in Singapore in his eagerness to strike a deal.

Among the demands: a “permanent” dismantling and removal of every North Korean weapon of mass destruction; the destruction of the North’s entire nuclear weapons infrastructure; the end of Pyongyang’s ballistic missile programs as well; and regular and complete briefings of Congress on the progress of the talks.

“If he tries to reach a deal with Kim Jong-un just for the sake of reaching a deal and the agreement fails to live up to the principles we’ve laid out, then he’ll have been bested at the negotiating table yet again,” said Mr. Schumer, whose letter did not detail what the U.S. could offer Mr. Kim in an effort to strike a deal.

Schumer needs to STFU and stay in his lane until a treaty hits the Senate for a vote.

I did find this funny. Washington Times calling out the DNC.

Democrats staunchly opposed Mr. Trump’s confrontational moves against North Korea in the first months of his administration, saying his tough rhetoric was tempting nuclear war. Now, with a stunning and unexpected diplomatic breakthrough perhaps in the offing, many of those same Democrats warn that his agreeing to a face-to-face meeting was empowering Mr. Kim.

Why do I get the feeling that no matter what Trump does, Schumer and company will never give credit where credit is due.

The reason we had the money was because sanctions were applied. Giving it back to them was actually breaking the sanctions. It was a move 90% of America would have voted against no matter how many times you try to justify it.

The more you whine the better we like it. He wiped out Obama's entire presidency in 45 days.

Not sure China wants a unified Korea.
not unless they control it. but it is preferable to the US/world getting involved to remove/invade Kim. If China new that a unified Korea could happen and the US would actually pull out afterwards it would happen. but as long as our presence is there they want their half.
