Why does it seem that there are so many fans who criticize Kiffin for the violations he caused and recieved, and yet some of those same fans keep trying to defend their love of Bruce. I just can't seem to understand some people i guess.

I think Bruce Pearl would sacrifice Steven to remain coach at UT. Kiffin just ran away like a little rat for the easier job and made us look like some small time stepping stone for bigger and better things. Bruce Pearl will be remembered for a long time for the great things he did for UT bball. Kiffin won't.

Isn't it funny how most of the people who were calling for Bruce's head for lying to the NCAA were also huge supporters of Lane Kiffin. Those responsible know who you are.

It's also funny the "real fans" who "support our coach" would let Tennessee basketball burn to keep a sanction riddled liar.

Yep, you would have that sanction riddled liar at USC back wouldn't you.

There's a distinct hypocrisy To Pearl - who claimed to be the last honest man in college basketball for so long - that Kiffin lacked. You knew who Kiffin was.

And say what you want about Lane Kiffin - and I continue to hope that he drops dead - but he wasn't the proven scofflaw that Pearl has now been shown to be.

And neither was he so brazen nor as stupid as Pearl in what he did, and how he attempted to address it.

So if Kiffin would've stayed and wanted to be here, and continue to commit violations, would that have been ok.

I wouldn't say he wasn't as brazen or stupid. He did have us in the headlines all the time for violations and would've been in huge trouble had he stayed here any longer than he did over reprecussions from hostessgate.

You should spend more time hugging your wounded inner child, instead of calling everyone else out for the pain he's experiencing. Or, use the pain as motivation to reflect upon those decisions which have lead you to feel so strongly in defense of a coach who so clearly doesn't deserve it.

Short of clairvoyance - there's no way to know who is right.

But after the meeting with the COI in June, and the eventual announcement of penalties, guess which of the two will hold the same coaching position as they do today - and you already know half of that answer.

I'm not defending Pearl, I was simply making a point that the "loud" fans who were calling for his head for lying are also huge Kiffin supporters. That is funny to me. I for one think it was the right decision to fire Pearl, but I wasn't on here being vocal about it.

I'm smart enough to know that all of these people who "love" Pearl so much would be calling for his head after 2 or 3 years of mediocrity due to sanctions handed down by the NCAA. I am also smart enough to know that if they bring in a winner next year, Bruce Pearl will go from greatest UT basketball coach ever, to just the man that built the foundation for UT to be successful for years to come. It all comes down to Hamilton being able to hire a coach who will inherit a terribly weak roster and possible sanctions. We basically lose either way.

Kind of like the old saying (well.. paraphrased anyway with poetic license) Referring to Kiffin: "He might be an ass, but he's OUR ass"

Bruce Pearl and Lane Kiffin should not be uttered in the same breath.... ever.

If Indiana had offered him their job instead of Crean, he would have been on the first plane out of Knoxville.

Who are these “huge Kiffin supporters” you speak of?

This sounds cut and dried, but think about it this way.

What if CLK had stayed six years:
- Got us ranked #1 in the nation during that time
- Was one of the top teams in the SEC 5 of those six years.
- Went to a solid bowl every year
- Went to BCS bowls three of those years

Now how easy is it to answer that question. :ermm:
