One simple question: Bruce Pearl vs Lane Kiffin

Why does it seem that there are so many fans who criticize Kiffin for the violations he caused and recieved, and yet some of those same fans keep trying to defend their love of Bruce. I just can't seem to understand some people i guess.

Maybe because Pearl seemed to actually care about UT. I haven't gotten the sense that he did it callously.

Even those of us who were fooled for awhile should have seen that Kiffin never gave a rip about UT or what happened when he left. He probably didn't expect to leave so soon. He probably did anticipate leaving NCAA issues behind him when he left.

Pearl's actions were just a stupid mistake compounded by more stupid mistakes. Kiffin likely knew he was breaking the rules and didn't care so long as it got him where he wanted to go.

I think Bruce Pearl would sacrifice Steven to remain coach at UT. Kiffin just ran away like a little rat for the easier job and made us look like some small time stepping stone for bigger and better things. Bruce Pearl will be remembered for a long time for the great things he did for UT bball. Kiffin won't.

This. Bruce Pearl truly embraced the culture and traditions of Tennessee (not just the university). Bruce became one of us. Kiffin did not.

So what i'm seeing is that for some of you, if a coach is winning, embraces the traditions here, and actually cares for the university, then you really don't care how many violations they cause, or what they really do.. Wow

It's pretty simple, actually. Kiffin left us for a job he wanted more, and Pearl wasn't able to get that job.

Looking at the entire situation, it's pretty hard to argue that Lane Kiffin was a worse person than Bruce Pearl, unless you really took offense to him hurting Urban Meyer's feelings.
