Open Letter to Coach Dooley

How about this?

Open letter to any new UT Head Coaching prospects
If your last name isn't Saban or Gruden this fanbase will never accept you as worthy of their lofty expectations.
Your every decision will be analysed and critizied and ridiculed by possibly the most impatient, ignorant, vicious and hate filled fanbase in America.
They have not one speck of class or human empathy as demonstrated by how their last HC was treated.
I would think long and hard before considering a job offering at this University, the odds of success are long indeed.

Some people just have no class OBVOL.

The last two coaches just urinated all over the program the last four years. Those are the two that have no class.

how about an open letter to all those simpletons who've enabled him these last three wasted seasons, you know, the ones who were so quick to tell us doubters that we'd be sorry when this clown morphed from ron zook into bill bellichick before our very eyes?

the way i see it, this is a win-win situation for both parties. the university of tennessee can go back to being serious about football, derek dooley can take his five mill and disappear into richly deserved oblivion.

Derek,

You needed more time. It was clear you were building something special. Tennessee will never recover if they make a poor choice and fire you.

He's talking about some fans acting like Dooley is a Saint and he did us a favor for taking the job. He's a damned fraud. I've been waiting for his con artist ass to get the boot. The best part is watching so many of his boot lickers eat crow.

Bingo, Dooley is another Bernie Madoff or Lou Pearlman. Well-educated high classed con men.

I think you need to STFU and be gone from being a Vol fan!

This post makes sense. I'm sure all the SEC coaches want Dooley to stay at Tennessee.

how about writing a thank you letter to mike hamilton for giving a wac coach with a losing record a $5 million buyout.

Also, we should thank coach dooley for being man enough to show up at every practice and game even after making mistakes that high school coaches don't make.

classless

I don't think the OP received the feedback he was looking for.

It has however, provided a vast amount of entertainment on a Sunday afternoon.

Apparently it is over now so why can't we just show a little class.

Because Dooley defenders have bashed us for 3 years now for pointing out the obvious. So to hell with the Dooley defenders and the head con man , Dooley himself. He has shown a total lack of class and respect to former players, current players, his staff and the fans. So he can kiss my ass. I'll show him the same respect he's shown those I mentioned. None

I think you need to STFU and be gone from being a Vol fan!

Why? So it can only consist of young disrespectful punks like yourself? I agree Dooley has to go now, but dictating what kind of fan should comprise the fanbase is the epitome of thinking you have more self worth than you actually do.

I wish people would stop acting like this guy did us a favor when he came here. This was a win for him. He was going to make major $$$, he was coming up from La Tech, and he would finally be coaching in the SEC. That's a complete upgrade to what he was doing previously.

So stop acting like we owe him anything or that he came to UT out of the goodness of his heart. If that were the case, his agent would've have negotiated this ridiculous buyout. It's a business. He wanted to advance his career. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with that, but for goodness sake, he doesn't need some letter written to him thanking him for taking this job. It was an opportunity of a lifetime for him.

I don't think he is saying that at all. He is saying thank you for trying your best.

Well said.....Thank you Coach....VFL:loco:
Dear Coach Dooley:

Today (Sunday) or Monday, you will likely be releived from your position as Head Coach of the University of Tennessee football program. This action reflects the University's need to bring a new direction to our historic and proud athletic program, and is not a reflection of your character or any malfeasance on your part. Quite the contrary.

You inherited a program already challenged by successive coaching turnover and nearly depleted of the level and depth of talent normally inherent in the Vols program. While your predecessor brought repeated infractions and national shame to our school, you brought integrity and honesty. While your predecessor attracted shallow, self-absorbed and miscreant recruits, you attracted stable players with an emphasis on the importance of team. You have truly succeeded in building our team's talent base under very challenging circumstances.

Most importantly, you brought stability to the University of Tennessee football program. For that, we thank you.

True fans of collegiate sports recognize that winning isn't everything, but it is required to remain a coach in the SEC.

For our young men on the football team, though, our team is also about building character, developing a strong work ethic, working as a team towards a shared goal and sense of purpose. When their college careers are over, most Tennessee Vol players will never play on Sundays. Their careers will be over. But, they will carry with them for the rest of their lives all the friendships, lessons learned and, hopefully, many fond memories of playing in front of the thousands of cheering Volunteer fans in Neyland Stadium, and take pride in representing one of the finest universities in this country.

While your career at Tennessee is reaching its end, I encourage you to be mindful of your accomplishments, and remain above the fray. True fans of Tennessee football and the University know that you put your blood, sweat and tears into your job. While your record may not reflect your efforts, you are no doubt leaving our program in a better place than where you found it. For that, we are grateful.

I sincerely thank you, and wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.

VFL, Class of '86

I must be missing the stability Dooley brought to the Vols...his second year almost the entire coaching staff leaves for lateral positions and recruiting has been sub-par, The defense is the worst in UT history and his record of SEC wins is the worst in almost 90 years
Stability my ass, if anything Dooley has helped destroy a once proud Football Program.....he may indeed be a nice guy (that may be questionable as well) but let's call it what it is
