Orange and Gray checkerboard

I think that orange and gray checkerboard end zones are probably a bridge too far for most of our fan base.
However, for the one game per season that the team wears the alternate gray uniforms, I would not be opposed to checker boarding the stands with gray and orange.

OMGGGGGGG CHANGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Our tradition will be ruined if we did it. You know the saying, "Once you cheggarboard with a different secondary color, you never go back."

Relax. It wouldn't hurt a damn thing if we did it one game. If it looks stupid, we won't do it again.

EDIT: checkerboard was spelled wrong.
But we know it would look stupid.. lol

Generically I have no problem with the color Gray, except when it is used as a sports uniform color. There it is awfully, awfully ugly no matter which team is sporting that uniform color.

The only thing I can think of that is uglier than a Gray uniform is the Pittsburgh Steeler throw-back uniforms - they look like a herd of akapis running around on the field!!

This reminds me of the time I started a thread explaining how, IMO, the generic "its great to be a Tennessee Vol" chant is not up to UT greatness standards because its the main thing our fans chant and just so happens to be used by seemingly every other football team in America as well.

I tried to make the case that instead of differentiating ourselves we seem like just another program/team when we use it. But you would have thought I proposed getting rid of Smokey and replacing him with an Iguana considering the overwhelmingly negative reaction.

I gather that anything Tennessee football related with sentimental value to a portion of the fan base will be fiercely defended and even any valid criticisms wont be entertained.

Maybe we should use an Iguana just one game, think of the National Attention...yeah - one game an O & W Iguana [blue font]

I tried doing a quick "paint" . This picture proves it will look like crap. Like looking out the window on an overcast day.
This right here is why we NEVER should consider doing anything other than orange and white. Looks like a piece of pizza that got forgotten in the back of the fridge for six months. A frozen Totinos pepperoni pizza to be precise.

Would be cool to see during the gray jersey game.

I keep saying this every time people want to change the checkerboards - I'm always amused by people who want to just change everything. People always want to change things, and the more important they are, the more it seems like people want to try little things because in their mind it'll be cool. Regardless of whether or not it'll actually be cool. In this case ... it would not be cool.

Plus, I mean, orange and grey just isn't a really pleasing combination, not to me. Not a good contrast. Orange and white is crisp, sharp, and distinct. Grey is ... just grey ... blah.

That's not even the right gray and the stadium sections aren't even orange they're people in the white sections.
