Does anyone know the format this year? And as a point of discussion, what is your favorite format? I liked Dooley's draft idea, but it made for some really crappy games.

Realistic scenario: 1st O vs 2nd D and 1st D vs 2nd O

Unrealistic scenario: Former Vols suit up and play in it.

Do they do the Vol Walk and Salute to the Hill for the Orange and White game?

They have in the past, but that's when (as best I remember) the fan's day was on Haslam Field. I don't know if having the fans day in Neyland will change that or not.

And some of them could still outplay some of the current guys on the team.

Will they be allowing fans to have more time to get autographs from the players? Last year, there was a huge line outside the stadium and fans only had a limited time to get in one position line to 4-5 autographs once they got in the stadium. Will CBJ give more access this year?

They will be doing more of a scrimmage type deal. Putting ball on 20 and go length of field and stuff like that. Said you will also see 1 off against 1 def. Don't think they are splitting up team to let 1 go against 2. It will be more controlled.

Coach Jones quote: (Vols Look to Fill Neyland Stadium For Orange-White Game - WDEF News 12)

“Obviously, we would like to have a draft, we would like to draft teams but that is where we are at with our program right now,” Jones said. “We don’t have much depth so it is going to be offense versus defense. We will have a scoring system so there are numerous opportunities for the defense to manufacture points with three-and-outs, turnovers, tackles for a loss. It is the same formula that we have been using throughout the course of the spring so our players are used to it.”

First, let me say, Coach Jones won me over almost immediately. I am very excited about what he's been able to do thus far: in healing old wounds, on the recruiting front, and in the way he is preparing this years squad for the tough year ahead. But am I understanding this correctly? The O&W game is not going to be the traditional game between an evenly divided squad, but a series of contrived offense vs. defense scenarios based on a subjective scoring system? If so, that's going to be quite a let down for those in attendance. I understand there is a lack of depth, but in my opinion, for the sake of filling the house, making a good impression and generating excitement on the part of visiting recruits and fans alike, you have to have a traditional split-squad game, even if that means you play a large number of unprepared walk-ons. In my opinion, that's going to do more to lay those foundational bricks in our "rise to the top" than what seems to me to be nothing more than a glorified final spring practice session.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the game has never been more than a glorified practice session.
