I think 2014 Orange Bowl was his last game he coached at Oklahoma, also to Clemson in a blowout loss. He was The escape goat after that season.Does anyone know CJH mentioned he went to Orange Bowl 3 times before, once as a player, twice as coach. I only counted once as a coach: that was the 2005 season when he was an assisntant at OU. By the time when 2015 Orange Bowl (also CFP) was played between OU and Clemson, CJP had already been fired by OU and was coaching Utah State that season. UCF never went to Orange Bowl.

Nevermind. You are right. That was the Citrus bowl against Clempson, not Orange.2014 Orange Bowl was played between MIss State and GAtech

I think he was referring to the 2009 BCS championship game against Florida. Technically he was right, it was played at the same stadium. Ironically, in 2015 Orange Bowl, OU also lost to Clemson, and you mentioned in the 2014 Citrus, they got blown out by Clemson (where CJH was in his last year as OC, lost 6-40).Nevermind. You are right. That was the Citrus bowl against Clempson, not Orange.
What difference does it make??Does anyone know CJH mentioned he went to Orange Bowl 3 times before, once as a player, twice as coach. I wouldnāt say it āmeans littleā. A NY6 Bowl is still a big deal. Thereās just not quite the reverence for it the way there was back in the day when there was no playoff you had Sugar, Orange, Rose and Fiesta Bowls on January 1st every year and playing on New Years Day truly felt reserved for elite teams.Certainly a sign of the times winds of change when the Orange Bowl means little. Use to be a prize treasure to achieve year after year.

What an archaic way to pick a champion though lol.

Really? I don't understand why some supposed college football fans don't realize there's far more to the game than chasing a national championship. We're talking about two national powerhouse teams duking it out on primetime. Why would any fan who truly enjoys college football not want to watch that? It's the Orange Bowl. It's an honor to be invited to play in it. And it's a really big deal.Certainly a sign of the times winds of change when the Orange Bowl means little.
