7 of our 10 2017 commits will be here to help recruit.
8 commits total if you count Mays.

I highlighted in red the prospects that were the lowest rated in the 247 composite amongst our Orange Carpet Day attendees (by position). I believe viewing the composite rankings for the committed players is a fairly objective way to judge the success of the event (as opposed to the sheer number of commitments, since we have a cap on the class each year no matter how quickly those commits come, or how many occur at a single event).

For all those who feel that I have an agenda, that's fine, that's your prerogative. I am only pointing out the lowest rated players at our OCD event at each position. It just so happens to reflect negatively on what was almost universally accepted as an outstanding day of recruiting for UT, which I would wholeheartedly disagree with considering the number of remaining spots in the 2017 class and the talent remaining on our board.

Some fans seem to believe that the majority of the 2017 class is perennially underrated by the entirety of the recruiting services (as reflected by a composite score) and that most of these guys will receive bumps. A few did in the 2016 class too, but certainly not all. CFA's tape looked amazing last year. We assumed he was underrated (and I think he was and remained so) because of injury and that he'd have a great senior year (which he did) and shoot up the rankings (which he did not). While Trey Coleman's highlights are not bad, they are not better IMO. I don't see him making me forget Jalen Hurd or Kamara when they leave either.

Also, for the record, I believe a few of our 3 star commitments from today are very solid prospects -- Bumphus and Fant particularly.

Repost after all of the camps before signing day. I'm sure most of these guys will be 4 stars.

Yeah because our staff isn't pursuing high stared players

Geez not saying that.

Saying that just because they are not a 4* or 5* right now our staff just doesn't move on by. There is value in some 3* players.

Some posters on here such as Nationdom, Junder13, etc.. only want 4* and 5* as they are incapable of analyzing talent other than by some number system.

Good day to be a VFL :hi:

My son and I head to a Boy Scout high adventure camp this week. It is called SeaBase. A week sailing around the Florida Keys :) Happy Father's Day
(Totally unplugged electronically) So this big recruiting commitment weekend is great too!
You will enjoy it. I was there 12 or so years ago. Had a blast.

I'm a former Plant Mgr. that could easily be knocking out 200k along with a ****load of stress and headaches combined with 15 hr. days. I decided 3 yrs. ago that quality of life and not dropping dead from a stroke or heart attack was much more important to me and especially my family. I still make six figures as a plain old engineer and I'm only responsible for me. Life is good.

This I can understand 100% If you take a pay cut for health, to spend time with family or things along this line.

If you take a $40,000.00 pay cut just to be closer to the vols you might want to reevaluate your life. I've never understood people who base their lives off of sports teams. I'm sure there are some great psychologists in Nashville you might seriously want to visit one.

It's not even the paycut and move for me. It's waving it in the air like a trophy...trying to one up his fandom points. :loco:
