7 of our 10 2017 commits will be here to help recruit.
8 commits total if you count Mays.
I highlighted in red the prospects that were the lowest rated in the 247 composite amongst our Orange Carpet Day attendees (by position). I believe viewing the composite rankings for the committed players is a fairly objective way to judge the success of the event (as opposed to the sheer number of commitments, since we have a cap on the class each year no matter how quickly those commits come, or how many occur at a single event).
For all those who feel that I have an agenda, that's fine, that's your prerogative. I am only pointing out the lowest rated players at our OCD event at each position. It just so happens to reflect negatively on what was almost universally accepted as an outstanding day of recruiting for UT, which I would wholeheartedly disagree with considering the number of remaining spots in the 2017 class and the talent remaining on our board.
Some fans seem to believe that the majority of the 2017 class is perennially underrated by the entirety of the recruiting services (as reflected by a composite score) and that most of these guys will receive bumps. A few did in the 2016 class too, but certainly not all. CFA's tape looked amazing last year. We assumed he was underrated (and I think he was and remained so) because of injury and that he'd have a great senior year (which he did) and shoot up the rankings (which he did not). While Trey Coleman's highlights are not bad, they are not better IMO. I don't see him making me forget Jalen Hurd or Kamara when they leave either.
Also, for the record, I believe a few of our 3 star commitments from today are very solid prospects -- Bumphus and Fant particularly.
