Orange Pants

I like the late '80's and early '90's unis. We looked really good up there at South Bend.

Yeah I remember the miracle at South Bend. We "RACKED" them really good in the 2nd half. As far as RACKEM goes you had better buy into it. It is an awesome concept if you really think about it. I just hope at least one team gets RACKED by the big orange this season. RACKEM RACKEM RACKEM BIG ORANGE!

AMEN...one of the best decisions Phillip ever made was trashing the orange pants. The second best decision was trashing the white pants with the 4 foot wide orange stripe down the side. The third best decision was going back to black shoes.
OTOH I would rather see the orange pants back with the road unis AND the orange stripe back at home. I hate the all white road unis. The black shoes are cool though.

I think I'm the only person who liked the white shoes in '04. I would also like to see the same unis we had against UNLV. Those were sick.

I love those too. They are throwback to I think it was 71 or 72. I would love to see them again though.

Didn't the NCAA reject our attempt to use those as our road jerseys?

They did, they didn't like how much orange there was on there. They said the colors were borderline as home and as road jerseys. We got the exception just for that one game though.

Gettin' radical now. Personal preference, I'd like to see all orange with white trim for a change. Also, a few years back Bama had road and home helmets, red home and white road, like the Philadelphia Eagles, white home and green road, had for a few seasons. One of the few things Bama ever did I liked. What about orange helmets with white power T and fat white stripe for road games?

I have enough problems picking out a tie in the morning much less dressing a football team.

I think black pants would be a good alternate uniform with the road white jersey. I just would like to see some variation every once in awhile.

No kidding . . . Is there anything more lame than a team switching up the uniforms for a big game?

Trust me, no visiting team has ever looked into the tunnel as the home team comes running out and said "Oh no! We're screwed! They're wearing different pants!!!!"

Those green jersies of Notre Dame's are pretty cool from time to time.

And, I liked the all orange on special occasions.

I agree, no team is going to be intimidated, but the small change can give the crowd an extra charge, which might get the team fired a little more and that in itself might make the difference in a close home game.

Although, when John was coach, I think he brought out the orange pants a couple of times and it played into the team being a little overwrought, and playing too tight. But, it was usually for Bama and we were usually the decided underdog in those days. It was hard to compete with the 'Best Team Money Could Buy.'

An old favorite of mind... Alabama, the Million Dollar Band and the Two Million Dollar Defensive Line

Well, that was in 1980's dollars.

In today's money it would be a lot more. :p

Yeah, unless you are an actual Notre Dame fan who wants them to win. Every time I see them come out with the greens on, I cringe, because I know they have already lost. Changing uniforms for 'big games' sends a message to the players that they need to rely on something greater than their ability and skill has a football team, and as Notre Dame has proven time and time again, often results in some kind of mental lapse at crucial moments in the game.

I could care less if UT wanted to bring back the orange pants or not, but make it an every game that season uniform, not a 'big game' new outfit.

i really doubt that the uniforms have anything to do with how the game turns out, or even mentally effects the players as you said. But a curse is a curse so lets just burn the orange pants.

Or....

Maybe since we already have hunter orange so to speak, we can blend in that orange blaze camo pattern with a green grass texture so the opposing defensives have a harder time spotting our offensive players and we look like we are performing better and up to snuff with our D. Then we could add turn signals to the helemts so they could fake people out by signalling left and going right, beep...beep.
