Two things:

1. Boise could win it all if there were a playoff. They are good, just blew it last night.

2. Vol catdaddy couldn't spell 'the' if he were spotted a t and an h.

No playoffs lets take it back to strenghth of schedule, make these guys play a good team in the regular season and not hurt them when they lose to a good ranked team

So why are you bashing Boise State for losing on the road at a top 20 program? And Boise's SOS is on par with Ohio State, Oregon, and Michigan State. Their SOS is higher than TCU and Wisconsin. They beat a good Virginia Tech team (SOS #28) which has a 9 game winning streak, bettered by only 3 other teams (Oregon, Auburn, TCU).

I just don't like them. They get to much credit; for what they really are. And I knew that point was going to bite in the tail. Thank you for pointing that one out.

I wanted BSU to win simply so that they would get smoked in the big game, ending this nonsense that they are a program equivalent to the top tier major conference teams.

The problem with the National Championship/major bowls being 3-4 weeks after the season is that any coaching staff can come up with a scheme to win one game. If you've got that much time to prepare you've got really good odds of winning. (See Boise State v Oklahoma; Utah v Alabama.)

The best system would be a playoff that begins one week after the conference championship games. You would have to play a conference championship game to get a higher seed. (It still baffles me that Oregon is ranked over Auburn when Auburn will end up playing one more game than them.) You play 2, 3, 4 rounds... I don't care. But you don't give coaching staffs 21 days to prepare for their opponent.

Without the time to come up with a very specific scheme that exploits that major conference opponent's one weakness the true depth/overall strength of the teams would be shown. And I don't think Boise State would be able to hold a candle to them.

My two cents.

I dont understand either. If thay had a kicker that didnt choke on a chip shot, this thread wouldnt even have happened. Nevada is a good team too, they put up 50+ on Cal who almost beat Oregon.

And UT would have beaten Alabama in 2009 and UAB would have beaten UT in 2010 if those respective teams had a decent kicker. The fact is that they don't. You win as a team and you lose as a team. They lost.
