Oregon Qb Thomas to enter NFL draft

He's already got his degree. Another year running that system isn't going to make him a better QB. He was slated to be a WR or RB in the NFL either way.

No, but if he had another great season, his draft stock as a QB would have risen. He would have at least become draftable. Surely you aren't that dense.

So he's going to get drafted by playing in the exact same scheme and putting up the same type numbers? The fact he isn't an NFL QB isn't going to change because he has another good season at Oregon.

The guy's draft stock isn't going to get much higher in the offense he plays in. Therefore, he only risks injury by coming back. Is it so bizarre to believe that he probably knows that he's not going to be a HOF NFL QB? Being drafted is being drafted and that usually comes with a large chunk of money, much more than anyone on these boards will ever see for a yearly salary.

Yes, but some aren't even sure that he'll be drafted, so I find it difficult to justify him leaving early...

True, certainly this hinges on him actually being drafted but I think you and these "some" that seem to think he won't be drafted are probably off. He'll be drafted.

For the most part, if you're not a first rounder most people (read: fans) think you shouldn't come out if you still have elgibility and that's just not a realistic mindset for the majority of the potential draftees.

There something called fun and an experience that you get by playing football, i would come back and enjoy it. It may be the last football he ever gets to play, money will be there later if he can make it.

Unless he blows a knee and then he may miss his only chance. Its the right call.

It's his life. If he wants to take a stab at the NFL, more power to him. If he hadn't earned a degree yet, it would look monumentally stupid, but he has earned one. What substantial positive impact does playing another year of college football in Oregon's offense do for him as it pertains to the NFL? It may raise his draft stock slightly, but in reality, the difference is right next to nothing. It may change him from going in the 7th round to 5th round, if even that high. So should he just come back to college so he can have some fun playing ball, bang some broads, and party? Yeah it sounds nice, in my mind. But it might not to him, and he's probably been doing it for the past 3 years anyway. Then there's the possibility of an injury, which would all but kill the already small chance of playing in the NFL that he had to begin with. I probably wouldn't make the same decision if I was in his shoes, but I don't think it's a monumentally stupid mistake.
