Oregon vs Stanford (merged)

Thanks BeecherVol. I felt horrible for Tennessee on Saturday. Was actively rooting for them against LSU. Good luck against UGA.
This team will need some luck, we are not good enough at this point to line up, and beat solid teams.

We had our chance to get a nice win (for this team) and pissed it away. The officiating is what it is, we should have won the game earlier.

Id like to see the Ducks and the Tide. Bama is an animal, but the Ducks have shown their metal so far. Gotta finish strong.

I really don't think UT is far away from doing this. These guys are so, so young and keep just getting into trouble through a combination of bad luck and lack of depth. I think they beat Georgia though. Is it at Neyland? If so, I really would bet on UT.

That's what it comes down to now, finishing this season one week at a time. Wazzou next, then a bye week so I think we're pretty safe from the effects of a "hangover game."

From what I've seen so far, I think 'Bama would beat Oregon but I also think we're probably one of the few teams in the nation that even has a hope of keeping up.

That's what I'm rooting for. I think it could be the best NC game since Texas-USC in '05.

Hey, MikeHamiltonFan (lol you like Mike Hamilton!), what happened to the Stanford blowout that you were expecting? :)

We go to GA. This game is interesting considering where they are, and what happened to us Sat. May come down to who puts that aside, and prepares better this week.

Bamas OL is scary for a good DL, this is where I would worry.

Their D is great, but IMO not as good as last year. Their O may be better.

It would be an interesting game. Oregon's DL would worry me a little.

WSU seems to be slightly better than they were, their qb isn't bad. It was a WSU team that brought the Ducks back down to earth the week after the Ducks beat Michigan at home years ago. Yes, it was a much different WSU team but stil.....**** can happen and when it does the Ducks are typically on the road. Although I feel this team is safer from the bigger upsets that used to occur when Belotti was around.

You can post the rest of it if you'd like. Most all of it was stupid, from the idea that you'd hire Kiffin over Saban, to the notion that coaches shouldn't be measures by the number of titles they've won, right on to your insane insinuation that Kelly was a better coach than Saban based on "circumstances and outcomes".

Rather than posting everything, I'll just return the favor and summarize:

Bumi is confusing the difference between capability and accomplishment. He doesn't seem to understand that it's possible for one person to be better at what they do than someone who has achieved more accomplishments before them.

By his logic Wilt Chamberlain was better than every player since him since none of them have accomplished scoring 100 points in a single game.

It's true that Saban is more accomplished than Kelly. However, Kelly's career isn't over yet. Based on what he has done at Oregon with fewer advantages than LSU or Alabama, I believe he is the more capable of the two.

I'm not saying we can just phone this in. But let's face it... "@Wazzou and then a bye week" following a big game like this is about as safe as you can possibly get in the conference schedule from having a hangover game sneak up on you.

And there you have it people. Straight from the horses mouth.

(lol @ the completely misplaced Chamberlin reference. Saban and Kelly are both coaches now, in the modern ear, at the same time)

Only a true Duck homer would say that Kelly is better than Saban. Of course, we knew that part already...

I stand corrected BUMI. If this is the masterful insight that Oregon fans produce (Kelly is better than Saban :eek:lol:)

and using Wilt to support his argument :ermm:

I would feel the need to join another board too.:hi:

Here Let me try one.

Derek Dooley is a better coach than Bobby Bowden because he still has more time to get wins, he has better hair, and the SEC has won 4 NC in a row so we only have to beat out 11 other teams instead of 119.

My point is supported by the fact that Dooley is 1-0 All time against the C-USA and Ron Artest is 1-0 in the NBA Finals series vs the celtics but Steve Kerr is a better clutch shooter.

So it only makes sense that given Time Dooley will have more wins than Bobby Bowden.

Hmmm, being  is kinda fun.

Not all Ducks fans are that, well... extreme. But sometimes you need a change in pace from the standard opinions held by most of a like fanbase, hence my reasoning for posting at Volnation.

Well, I hate Saban but He is hands down the best coach in CFB right now. I watched for 10+ years all these coaches trying to get Bama back to being a Powerhouse and all of them failed miserably... I LOVED IT. Then along came Satan, I mean Saban and in no time they are winning the SEC, NC, and hold a ridiculous winning streak right now. I HATE HIM but you gotta give him credit and Kelly has a long way to go before he is on Sabans level.

Yep, agreed on all levels.

It's also possible for him to fail miserably. Doubt either one will happen. Saban's won titles at 2 different schools now and doesn't seem to be slowing down. Kelly's got a conference championship. He's got quite a bit of catching up to do. Let me know what your magic 8 ball says about the Vols for 2012.

I absolutely love Chip Kelly. He's one of the best coaches in CFB and I am thrilled to know he'll be on the Oregon sideline for years to come.

...but you gotta give some serious respect what Nick Saban has done at Alabama. There is hardly a single facet of his game (in game calls, weekly preparation, recruiting) that hasn't been top notch. Best coach in the land right now without much of a doubt.

I think Saban can be successful in the NFL if a team is ever willing to meet all his demands, he is a phenomenal college coach. I'd have Kelly in the Top 10 coaches right now for what his team is doing

Problem with college coaches going to the NFL is they usually get crap teams. Gms and assistants become far more important as well.

Kelly and Saban are incomparable at this point, and if you did compare them, Saban would have the clear edge.
