Southern Cal appears to be sweetening the deal in a last-minute charge to sway tight end Orson Charles, one of the nation's top unsigned seniors. Charles told the AJC that he talked with Southern Cal coach Pete Carroll on Thursday afternoon, and that Carroll was reserving the No. 7 jersey if he signs with the Trojans. "Now, everything is really up in the air," Charles said. On the surface, Southern Cal's actions don't appear to be a big deal. However, it may be enough to give the Trojans a tiny dose of critical momentum going into the final hours with Charles, who is torn between offers from Georgia, Tennessee and Southern Cal.

I saw this too. What it doesn't mention is that both UT and uga had already made that promise.

One other thought...USC is on the opposite side of the country. It's happened before, obviously, but that's a looonnngg way from home.

Charles can wear the number even if Morley doesn't give it up...as long as we don't move Charles to defense...or they don't play on the same special team squad

I'm not sure about the conferences, but the PAC 10 does this a lot. A lot of their guys wear the same numbers, but they are on opposite sides of the ball.

Im not really putting a ton of stock into getting this guy. Honestly we dont really "need" him. Getting him would be a huge boost and we would def. use him.

IMO Oku/Brown > Oku/Charles
