The transgressions of Bruce Pearl do not compare with the sins of Buckeye JT. However, the crucifixion of BP is not about barbeques or cover ups. It's an unpaid bill from many years ago that must be paid, and a football school that has no right to expect basketball success. You can look for BP getting hammered and JT and Buckeye U skating along.

I wish this thread could have been kept in the bb forum because not many people come to this forum and i think it pertains to the Pearl situation and will be compared to it for the duration of the investigation. The cage has to be rattled more and this is our small way of doing so.

I dont believe so. The NCAA knew about the violations of the players at the time of the bowl but still let them play. Thats been dealt with. The violations of the coach have not and should be much worse. He has to end up losing his job.

I disagree. I think the 2010 wins will have to be vacated. It is one thing if the players are in violation of policies and neither the university nor the coaches know about it. It is entirely different if the coach knows and continues to play those players.

The players have been dealt with; however, that would never have amounted to vacating games. Institutional fault will though.

The biggest difference between Pearls and Tressels case? The sv is STILL lying.

Pearl also committed another violation 4 days after his press conference.

You know, the one where he was crying and saying how he wouldn't do illegal stuff again.

Both Tressel and Pearl need to be shown the door.

The biggest difference between Pearls and Tressels case? The sv is STILL lying. Two reasons why he claims he withheld information about his star players violating the rules. 1. Because of the request of confidentiality in the e-mails. 2. To protect his players from the criminals they were associating with.

The problem with no.1 is that if you read the first e-mail informing Tressel of the violations, there was no confidentiality request. That didnt come until 2 weeks later in the 2nd e-mail. The rule states that he is to pass on the info as soon as its recieved.

The problem with no.2 is that in December, well past the time when his players could face danger tressel was asked if he knew of the violations previously and he straight up lied verbally and in a signed statement.

These facts are the reason ESPN has yet to show or even talk about the e-mails. Bottom line is Pearl covered up a minor violation and has since come clean. Tressel covered up a major violation and is continuing to flat out lie to his university, the NCAA, and to the world. What he has done and continues to do is 10 times worse and if you dont think so, you are delusional.

I think Tressell should be fired, but not so much for the reasons cited above.

1. The email was from a lawyer who Tressel had a long-standing relationship with and I suspect routinely got inside information from. Tressel likely understood it to be confidential from the get-go based on the status of the individual and the prior relationship. Expressly saying it needed to be confidential in later emails just reemphasized that; it was not the necessary predicate to assume it as such.

2. He actually did disclose that he got a tip in December; he just omitted the details with protecting his source as his defense. The "signed statement" is a certification submitted and signed in September, not December, so that wouldn't apply.

:jpshakehead:Been at work all day and been dying to respond. To your first point, theres a big difference between "hey, i was given confident info about a criminal case.", which is how he portrayed it, and "my buddy told me something that he didnt want me to tell anyone.". The latter is the truth and is definately no excuse not to report the info given.
To point number two, really? So a coach can just leave out certain information, citing protection of the source. LMAO that he can get away with this stuff. If this crap was happening to say, Houston Nutt, this would be going WAY different.:jpshakehead:

Note to coaches. When getting inside information do it in person. Not in e-mails.

It's been well reported that he's an ex-player.

He's also getting death threats form tOSU fans. (I wonder if this is the same 'vocal minority' that forced Herbstreit out of town...)

I am totally pissed about Slive penalizing Pearl. That's TOTAL BS. Do any other conferences EVER suspend coaches? Maybe it's happened, but I sure don't recall any. Is Tressel going to get suspended by his conference? Calhoun wasn't...I HATE Slive--I think he's got a bug up his butt about ut, for some reason. The guy is a prick...

I believe it was choreographed to increase BP's chances of retaining his position. I'm not sure Slive was acting without corresponding with MH and powerful Tennessee people. JMO

Don't be surprised if tOSU and Tressel survive without paying the piper. tOSU has, is, and will be the non disclosed "Teflon U". IMO

Certainly have been inconsistencies. I think it's pretty bad to see the kid from Baylor suspended with nothing happening to Newton at all. It would suck to see Tennessee get slammed while OSU fans have their ridiculous beliefs that Tressel did nothing wrong justified by the NCAA.

screw OSU and everything about them... I lived in Ohio for 10 years and they are total jerks.... we won it all in 98 and they said it was a joke.... and still think it!..... they feel like ohio is the epicenter of all the world and the SEC is Europe.... they have zero air to breath on.... they can't stand the SEC is better and the fans are better and the facilities are better.... you play in the little 10 and you have 12 teams.... wtf?? ego ego ego and no actual represtantion to the facts! I cant wait til we kill em when they hit our schedule in 2018? I believe.... blow em out baby!

Don't hold back. Tell us what you really thi9nk about them.
