Our Late Game Shot Selection

I like Goins because he's tough. He had a really bad game. Gotta take charge or sit and let somebody else take charge. Several games have ended the same way this year because there isn't a confident pg on the floor that wants the ball and knows what to do if the set play doesn't look good or work. It's not all on Goins, but it's like the qb. I expect the pg to control the game and get teammates in the right positions to make plays. He'll bounce back.

Late game situation failures are on the coaching staff, not a player.

Pearl (and I assume the rest of the staff) seem to have a let-the-players-make-plays at the end of the game philosophy rather than tightly control what happens.

Sadly, we don't have players (at least not guards) who can make the plays.

Eh, that's kind of a cop out approach. It's taking the "well, I just let the players go out and win the game" approach to try to place the blame on the players. It's just an attempt to disguise the fact that they absolutely suck in those situations.

Have you ever played PG?

If you honestly think the coaches don't get the blame when they call timeout and set up a play and it results in a 40 foot contested three, then I'm not going to bother debating this with you.

Wow, it's the players fault for launching a 30 foot three in every game that a last shot would have won for us. Guess coaches do nothing but throw a ball out. That is the most ridiculous coup out I'm ever heard.

agree.

for this type of thing to happen once a year... ok, new players, young players whatever... people make mistakes. but when this type of nonsense happens multiple times over and again WITH THE SAME PLAYERS... it is a COLOSSAL COACHING FAILURE! anyone who says anything different has either never played beyond 7th grade or has the IQ of a
