our offense has potential to stump defenses

Many people just don't understand how important knowledge, experience and starting quality talent a 2 deep roster really is.

A big amount of our best playmakers are freshmen and sophs and we don't have SEC starting talent on a 2 deep gameday roster...yet.

Who's our great punter that can pin the other team way back?

Who's our great kicker that can make the high pressure game winning FG kick?

If we do better than 6 wins and back in a bowl game then we did well this season.

8 wins or more and our coaches all deserve a big raise and 2 more years on their contracts.

I want to win the SEC East this season and just make it to the SEC Championship game because that would be a huge step in the right direction but I don't expect it for 2 or 3 more years unfortunately.

We had some starters last year that shouldn't even be on a 2 deep gameday roster in the SEC but we still have to try to rely on those guys this year and if we have some injuries at several positions we're in really bad shape.

Trying to be realistic and patient really sucks and on gameday I'll be fired up and believe we can beat anyone, LOL!

Still very bullish on UT's O. Unlike many here, I have confidence that at least 3 of the QB's can get it done. I like the quality depth they seem to have at RB now. WR is still thinner than Jones would probably like but reports suggest there's been a leap forward with that group both from development of returning players and new guys. TE is somewhat of a concern. They need Branisel and Downs because of experience. The new guys have exciting potential but need development.

I personally believe this OL while not as talented as last year will be as good or better. I like their aggression and intelligence.

I am very uneasy about the D but expect the O to take a major step forward.

I'm excited about this years team just because they have had a year in the system and are not facing new position coaches, schemes or language. They are being taught the same techniques and will be able to breeze through the basics and perfect the more complex part of our Offense & Defense. We should see some significant improvement from the experience players.

After a year in the system I expect much better QB play. And as another poster pointed out consistent WR play should help our quarterbacks too. The O-line is a complete mystery until kick off this fall. The five that just graduated were so consistent that we have seen very little from our current 1st team o-line, whoever they are.

Oh, and then there is the slight influx of talent coming in...

I agree with OP in that our offense has POTENTIAL to dumbfound defenses. Our offensive SCHEME has great potential for balance, consistency, variety. However, I think 2015/16 is when our personnel will catch up and allow the scheme to take shape and do what it's designed to do.

*btw, I think all offenses are designed with the same goal in mind. You get it.

The thing that really worries me about the OL is lack of depth. One injury could set our OL back quite a bit because our depth at tackle is spotty. 2 injuries could really make thigs unravel for us.

Yeah. LT is very thin especially. I believe there will be 11 OL's that came to UT on scholarship on this fall's roster.

I am not sure if it is a general rule or not but I noticed something about OL and DT recruiting. They were the first ones to stop listening to Fulmer when he was about to be fired... and also Dooley. Not sure why but Fulmer left an awful OL and DT situation and Dooley didn't leave a great situation.

In Mizzou's charmed season last year... they were always an injury or two away on both lines from being a pretty bad team.

Dooley is the gift that keeps on giving.... depth is poor because he chose not to sign any OLs in the 2012 class. I know everybody knows this just thought it was worth mentioning again.

I really hope someone separates themselves at QB enough this spring, so that CBJ can name a starter before summer.

The extra reps with the first team would do the entire offense wonders.
