With the new AP poll this week, Tennessee's schedule has reached a new level of ridiculous. Starting with September 14:

@ #2 Oregon
@ #19 Florida
vs South Alabama
vs #6 Georgia
BYE WEEK
vs #11 South Carolina
@ #1 Alabama
@#14 Missouri
vs #24 Auburn

Seriously?? In eight games, we face seven teams ranked in the Top 25. Four of those being away games, and of those away games, two are against the #1 and #2 ranked teams in the country. What the heck...

Has anything like this happened to other teams before?

Well yes, yes it has, but those schools dropped football the next year, so you've probably never heard of them.

8 of the 14 SEC schools are ranked.
The 6 teams not ranked are combined 1-16 in SEC play.

There is a slight disparity.

I was reading an article stating it was the toughest schedule in CFB history(BCS era).

I will see if i can find it again and post a link.

Seriously, If we make it to a bowl game.. CBJ needs a raise/extension and a statue next to the general..

Why do you think so many coaches were scared to death to take the job?

Kids are signing up to show scouts what they look like against the best. Better than a rotation and a ring.

Tough division schedule + Bama as cross division rival + 1 very difficult ooc game most years = formula for consistently having the toughest schedule in the nation.

Yeah, I think part of the reason we had to go through a list of a few coaches before hiring Butch was this schedule.

I think mizzou was overrated before the injury to Franklin with the injury they are certainly not a top 25 more near Tennessee's level

They will learn from it...what doesn't kill you will make you stronger. It's a challenge and good players rise to the occasion. 6 wins on this schedule will be an accomplishment but still think we win 7.

Missouri's ranking will be gone after the next 2 games. That injury's going to be too much for them.

I just don't know how good they will be after losing their QB either. I will say this though, I'm thoroughly impressed with how they have transformed from last year to this year. GA, IMO, doesn't have an excuse to losing these games. Their defense is loaded with talent and they can't stop anyone. Their back up WR and RB are all very good players and athletes. Their offense isn't hurting as bad as people think. Injuries effect all teams differently, but GA is one team that has zero excuse for not winning games like yesterday at home.

All we need is THREE MORE GAMES to go bowling. If we play like we did against Georgia, we should get Kentucky and Vandy. Vandy has a little more incentive this year with the way they beat us last year eventually sealing Dooley's fate.
IF we get SC, or Auburn and Vandy,(all at home),Missouri and KY are on the road.
2out of 3 at home, 1 out of 2 on the road, not impossible.

My judgment on the matter (besides the kid being a RS Freshman) was just how they handled when he was in on offense after the injury. They just ran the ball (which UGA started to stack their defense against, daring them to throw), threw some screens, and one play had Mauk throw it downfield (a play where one of the receivers - it was either Washington or Green-Beckham - more made the play) (...also the few times he ran I'm not sure he saw the correct read)

To me it just showed that they don't have confidence in letting Maty Mauk pass the ball yet...so whatever he's shown in practice (combined with the lack of in-game experience) has left them in a position where they felt they should only pass when they need/have to...and you're not going to beat either the UF and USCe defenses doing such (both of which will be pressuring them to do so / focusing on stopping the run)
