Our speed in operating the offense has improved.

Joe Rexrode with The Athletic was just on SEC Network Radio negatively framing Hype's offense and stating how Defensive Coordinators don't believe that offense helps develop defensive players.

@joerexrode covers UT and Vandy.

He sounded a bit skeptical that until proven otherwise, Hype's offense can't win a championship and no really good QB's have come out of his system.

Patrick Mahomes was doubted due to the offense Texas Tech ran and now look at him - arguably the best QB in the league.

We shall see.

Same was said about Spurrier and Meyer. Then they won championships.

Did anyone else notice how many times the officials stood over the ball holding up the game? It was a lot. And many times it was because THEY (the officials) were not ready. We were actually lining up faster than the officials spot the ball. More importantly, it didn't look like we were in a rush. Just normal game speed for us. It is pretty incredible when you think about it. I wonder if Josh maybe had time and motion engineers at camp identifying and eliminating redundant actions. Most of our scoring drives were less than 3 minutes long but still were made up from a lot of plays. UVA actually won the TOP at 33 minutes. This type of pressure is like Kryptonite to a defense. They just can't get adjusted to the speed. They make a mistake and we score.

I think the General would've like Heupel's game. They both were big innovators. We need to make sure we keep him.

The best thing is that we will only get better as the year goes by.šŸ˜
Did we ever get any post-game comments from the UVA Defensive Coord. that said ā€œpracticing against the UVA offense would get his defense prepared for UTā€™s speed?ā€ I donā€™t recall anything, but Iā€™m pretty sure he felt our speed was no big deal and that they basically practiced against our speed every day in practice. Howā€™d that work out for ya bud? GBO!

Sure Iā€™ll grant that maybe our offense fails to develop QBā€™s in SOME ways, but hard not to argue it doesnā€™t prepare them MORE in some ways also. Canā€™t fathom a UT QB not being better prepared for 2min drives. And our QBā€™s are used to reading defenses quickly and efficiently. Trade offs.

But Iā€™m convinced that this offense can still translate to QB success at the next level. Yes time will tell, but I just donā€™t see it as that flawed in development at all. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø
Adjusting to the NFL is always tough for any qb no matter the system. I think the type of offense you run in college is weighed too heavily. If the qb is smart and works hard he will adjust. With that being said, Hooker doing well in the NFL would shut up a lot of the talk about our offense not developing.

Reds need to be quicker at getting the ball spotted. With rule changes and realignment it's obvious they want to college game to be more like the pro game. The refs should be held to NFL standards for the rule change to work properly.

And we slowed down for the last 12 minutes.

Yep. Up 42-10 with 13:32 left to play..... bring in Nico and some backups, slow the O down, have a 7 play 1:40 40 yard scoring drive. Worked for me.

Never heard of him, who is he that makes him a so called expert?

Yeah, should be pretty easy to adjust to taking your time vs tempo at the next level.

Getting prepared to get lined up is one thing, being able to make calls and get in a new alignment is another.
