Out of Line to Ask About Recruiting?

Not that I want to be that guy, but I''m seeing reports on darn near every imaginable aspect of our new coaching situation, except recruiting. We lost guys after Pruitt was fired. Defections happen in that situation. So the normal thing for the new coach to do is speak with the team and the recruits, that is to save the class one way or another. Maybe Coach is keeping it on the QT, but I am seeing nothing about his tagging base with the 2021 Class. Does anybody have news about staff trying to keep the Class together while adding a few of the best players in the country?

He hasn't even had a chance to unpack his bag yet dude. I am sure he is going to make a few phone calls to the recruits but it won't be made known. Now that we have an early signing period most classes are filled in December so the ones who sign in February I wouldn't worry as much. I wouldn't expect much since he just got hired. I say more work will be done on the 2022 class than the 2021.

What staff? Lol everyone on staff is about to be gone.

We literally just got a new coach yesterday and he had to video his old team to tell them goodbye.....

Give the guy some time 😂 we don’t have many more kids to recruit by February 2nd and as for the next class I’m sure once he has his staff assembled they will start targeting what they need.

He said that he would not be reaching out to UCF recruits, and I'm ok with that. But I would expect him to contact Tennessee recruits and their families, plus other players who might fill the "21 Class in positions of need. He would not have to unpack his bags to pick up a telephone.

That isn’t what he said. He said he wasn’t going to “Poach” kids who are already at UCF. He didn’t say anything about recruiting guys he had been recruiting.

Can you just pretend that we had a long quibble about exactly what he said, instead of going on and on about it without my participation, because I'm not interested in doing that.

Stating a fact isn’t a quibble. I told you what he said. He said he wouldn’t poach UCF. He will still recruit guys he was recruiting.

As for him not currently talking to recruits he got there yesterday lol. Had to tell his old team bye over Zoom. Hasn’t even assembled his staff yet. All the current staffers are going to be gone in a few days.....

Do you want the man to be Superman? Lol 😂 it’s going to take a few days to get everything settled in on the recruiting side of things.

I thought I read somewhere that he was already making calls yesterday on the flight or before he was even introduced.

He's already been talking to recruits for 2022

Well, he's not going to recruit the same caliber of players that went to UCF to UT.
Maybe a few?

Nor is he going to take any players already from UCF. That's what he said yesterday.

i wouldn't place any expectations on how this class finishes up next week. our highest rated prospect has asked for release papers.

i'd look for them to look in the transfer market in the spring to fill needs.

we won't know how good/bad a recruiting staff this is for a little bit, but they have opportunity, and a lot of work to do, with the 22 class....so we'll see.

for now....1 step at a time....get a staff hired. get to know the team you inherited, the signees that are coming, and go from there.
