as someone who's buried 5 great grandparents and 4 grandparents and whose parents are phasing into the downsizing phase of life I just know what I'm talking about. You didn't like my post and made a snap judgment. The fact still stands that the stuff is worthless and the op was basically gifted with some things that belong in a recycling bin. Nothing you assume about me will change that.

never saw where the OP said he was attempting to sell them, so idk why youre so concerned with there worth. he recieved a gift from his parents they they enjoyed and have given to him to enjoy. and you just want to be a dick for the sake of being a dick. :salute:

Everybody saved the same stuff and it's pretty much worthless as collectibles. You have to get to 1960s and older items before you will find any real value for Vols ephemera like ticket stubs and game programs. Nice that the original poster's dad saved the stuff and gave it to him. I love it when my parents dump their worthless junk off on me so they don't have to feel the bittersweet pangs that accompany throwing away stuff that they've hoarded for years while saddling me with the caretaker role until they pass on and I can safely toss it out with a clean conscience.

Like all collectibles, sports memorabilia is only worth what someone is willing to pay. It's not gold. The market for Vol memorabilia is so small that it's pretty much all "worthless" on a national stage. That said, the OP is happy with them being passed down which makes them priceless in his eyes. That's all that matters.

This. Dude was just trying to rain on the OP's parade. Obviously he is an ass in his daily life and wants to bring others down for no reason at all.

The good ole VN feelings police. Sounds like a sack of Nancys got their panties in wads worrying about something that concerns one poster on the board who didn't even bother to respond. Nice job folks.

From your response to the op it sounds like you got way more than just your panties in a wad. Try some midol or pamprin may help.

Maybe to you it's worthless, but what me, my family, and my friends have collected is quite valuable to us.I am sure to most every real Vol fan feels the same about what they possess. Whether it's ticket stubs or original autographed helmets or jerseys. WTH!

Sorry man, I disagree. But I'm not trying to make money off of them. I just think they are really cool pieces for my man cave. Has nothing to do with sentimental value from my dad.

Yep, if the price is right - I will bid or buy it on Ebay -- always looking to add to my Vols room ---- Go Vols !

then from me to you allow me to recommend that before you pay for professional framing you check with a couple of Goodwill stores in Knoxville where you will undoubtedly find the same items already matted and framed for a few dollars.

My dad just came to visit me in Knoxville and brought me a nice surprise - a basket full of newspapers that have been in storage since 1999.

He gave me his collection of every Tennessean newspaper after every Tennessee Vols win in 1998 including the national championship paper from the USA Today. He also gave me the Sports Illustrated special edition for the Vols that year.

Like I said...UT History. They are all perfectly preserved and will be framed and displayed proudly in my man cave.

I would feel bad getting all that junk. a bunch of worthless newspapers from the greatest year of vol football in my lifetime. shame, shame..?? :)

Why does anybody care what hillbilly thinks? He is getting off to the comments that everyone is making. Never was it said that anybody's collection was valuable or unique. Any fool can criticize. You stoop to his level when you argue with him.
