'17 PA CB Lamont Wade

Lamont Wade

The latest: Pittsburgh, Penn State and Tennessee have already hosted Wade this season and the early enrollee has visits to Penn State, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and UCLA coming up later this season before announcing his commitment on Dec. 17.

The prediction: Wade doesn't know which school he will end up at yet but Tennessee has some momentum coming off of his visit to Knoxville for the Florida game. This is a very fluid recruitment and the favorite will likely change a few more times before Wade's commitment. - Friedman

Farrell’s Pick: Tennessee

They'll be lucky to win 6 games IMO.

I keep seeing people reference win totals and head to head match ups like it matters in recruiting.

Did it matter for us when we were winning 5 games and losing our head to heads? No. We recruited like gang busters.

* Not calling you out, Kristy. Just making a general point.

Fair point.

I agree that head to head wins don't matter as much, but making progress does/should. Year 2, we went from 5 wins to 7. If Pitt goes from 8 to barely making a bowl or missing out on a bowl in year 2, then it could affect recruiting. All JMO, and all recruits are unique in their deciding factors.

Yeah that winning crap never helps Bama in recruiting. You might get a year or two break with new coaches and thing but kids gravitate to winning programs.
If Clemson would have averaged 6 wins a year over the last three do you think Higgins would be going there?

I agree. It's common knowledge that consistently poor football programs also get the best recruits. Thanks for the insight. :hi:

When James Franklin got hired at PSU I fully expected him to have a lot of success there. It feels good to be wrong.

I thought he was a fraud when he was at Vandy. The roster his first year was one of the best in Vandy history, and coupled with a down SECE, his success didnt have as much to do with him as it did the circumstances he inherited.

Mason's first year was all JF recruits, and there was maybe one or two players on the whole roster who would start on any other sec team. He left the cupboard BARE.

Winning National championships and putting 7-8 guys into the league each year helps Bama in recruiting.

Its usually about how you are trending.

Agreed.

Trend matters.

The "experience".
Comfort level with coaches, players, program.
Style of play.
Chance to play.

Those are things that matter to 17-18 yr old kids.

They all believe 1 of 2 things:

I can keep it going
- or -
I can turn it around

So what WERE you a-tryin' to say, hoss?

Did he really call that?

It caused quite a row. I wasn't familiar with his rep at the time. The regulars pretty much salted away his commitment and went on to the next one...until Dormady committed. :)

On ESPN's top plays, or something, Van Pelt said Lamont Wade from Penn. Hurdled a dude and took it to the house for 60 yards or so I believe. Looks like a athletic fellow
