If he thinks putting USC-Arizona State on the PAC 12 Network is going to bully Cablevision and Comcast into adding his product, he needs to be drug tested.

If TWC will attempt to buck Dora the Explorer and ESPN then they sure as heck will try and make PAC network a premium option or none at all. I'll take our games on ESPN over a niche channel any day.

The Pac-12 is going to have a large presence on both the ESPN and Fox family of networks.

To be fair, I think UEFA Champions League could also make that claim.

Their contract wouldn't be for billions if some games weren't mainstream I'm just saying the exclusive channel garbage is just another way to add a cash register. I think some of those fox networks are premium on TWC in NC already.

Also, I don't really care to add A&M. I hope they just stay put.

Serious question. Just out of curiosity why not? Would you rather add a different school or not expand at all?

I'm on the fence. If the SEC expanded I would rather have them than about anyone else. It'd be nice to have a Texas school that is competitive in football & basketball, generates revenue, and has a loyal fanbase that travels well. They do have a natural rivalry with Arkansas & LSU. I have a really good friend that is an A&M grad and he would love to stick to Texas and leave the Big 12 for the SEC.

I wouldn't be in favor of adding anyone unless I was sure things wouldn't change too much in conference play. In other words, I would want to be sure that adding another team doesn't potentially cost us the Alabama game.

There'd be no reason to assume that would happen.

The Pac-12 is doing some crazy scheduling where each California team plays the other three every year despite being in different divisions. So it's really not hard to make the schedule work.

Think that has anything to do with the fact that both of the league's football goliaths reserved the right to start their own networks and retained the rights to any of their games not televised nationally for said networks?

how is this any different than the pac-12? the pac-12 is retaining rights to any games not televised nationally and is starting it's own league. none of this money has anything to do with the pac-12 network.

With Texas, it's about control. They don't want to have to ask the 9 dwarves for approval on anything. And they're no more interested in having to ask approval from the west coast teams either.

i understand that, but hat seems to be under the impression that the base deal for both conferences is different which is not correct.

I'm convinced that Texas would actually prefer to be an independent in football, but only stays in the little 10 in order to make scheduling easier. The money would probably be about the same either way.

If you don't see how the tenuous nature of the Big 12's existence would hurt their rights fees, I'm not sure how I can help you.

I'm sure they would. It would save them the embarrassment of watching OU win the league pretty much every year.
OU has probably been the most consistent team over the national championship era. That being said, if Texas gets a great coach, they would probably be able to turn that series around.
