PAC12 Playing This Year

LOL - what about all the people this will kill?

First, it certainly does feel like a flip flop by the PAC-12 commissioner.

Second, one of the comments Kirk Herbstreit made on game day about his sons who play at Clemson made a bit of sense, he basically said that he felt his kids would be safer inside the controlled team environment than they would simply out in the uncontrolled public. So maybe the programs playing football will actually be providing a safer place for these kids. Now, we'll have to wait and see. Hope Kirk is right

I despise the PAC 12 i would like to see a few to teams jump to another conference, then the California schools go down with the proverbial ship.

Hey, you don't like the PAC-12, that's fine. I don't like ND (they played for a tie against my Ducks back in the early 80s).

As for schools coming and going from the PAC-12, I can still see the day that it's the PAC-16 adding Oklahoma and Texas.

The Pac 12 is still a strong conference. They're going to need to rework the network deal in the next few years, but they aren't going anywhere. The only conference that's even remotely likely to crack is the Big 12.

Any player that comes down with Covid - the knee jerk reaction is "because of football". Find a Covid victim and ask them who gave it to them. I'll bet the answer is ambiguous in most cases. Kirk is probably right, it's a safe a place as any. People are gonna people. The empty parking lots I saw back in April are no longer empty - people are out. Covid IS going to happen - no way to get a zero rate.

Honestly, I think Basketball is more likely to transmit the virus than football. Winter sport, where HVAC is recirculating air (a larger example of what happens in an airplane). At least, for the most part, football is outside. Play ball!

The BIG10 and it's weak commissioner actually had a reverse affect than what they planned....They tried to be the hotshot and leading the way for a cancellation of fall football. Now that they caved in to protests by parents and players (Justin Fields especially) they rescheduled, leading a full team participation by all leagues (MAC is suppose to be opt in this weekend).

It would not surprise me to learn Utah, Nebraska, and the B12 have been in conversations to potentially "make the B12 twelve again." Just early days talk, mind you, nothing solid, very low key, simply exploring options.

And no, I don't see the B12 as a splinter risk. If the others didn't leave Texas when it was acting all Snow White and the 11 Dwarves, they're not going to leave now. The core they have at the moment, minus West Virginia (which remains one of the oddest grafts of the last consolidation wave), are pretty solid.

Nebraska should def go back to the Big 12. I never understood why they left they don’t fit in the Big 10.
