Palardy playing for the Raiders

The last time I was in Knoxville, I bumped into him at Tin Roof. Several co-eds were convinced he would be a NFL player one day by their actions, if you know what I mean.

So is Gay Travis going to pay up, since Mr. Palardy is most likely going to eventually be the Kicker for the Oakland Raiders? Janikowski is not getting any younger.

Palardy Signs With Oakland Raiders - UTSPORTS.COM - University of Tennessee Athletics

Do you think this because Janikowski is getting old or you think Palardy will beat him out? If it's bacause he's 36, remember he's just a kicker. He doesn't get that often and it's not uncommon to see kickers in their 40's in the NFL.

Denver signed QB Bryn Renner in May. Do you expect him to beat out Manning for the starting role? Manning is 38, you know.

Signing a player and making the team are 2 very different things.

Yes, I believe Janikowski is getting old 36 is getting upthere regardless of how little contact a kicker has. Look at Tiger Woods, he plays golf, a non-contact sport and his body is started to give out on him and Janikowski is a pretty big dude 250ish, the hip/knee are going to give out eventually.

This surprises me. There are many kickers better than Palardy. IMO he doesn't have the overall leg strength. He did a lot better this year in terms of accuracy, but I wonder if he starts choking again.

Get out of here with that sense making, we don't take kindly to that in these parts

In 2013, Janikowski was 21-30 field goals , and 37-37 extra points. His long was 53 yards. He was 6-6 from 20-29 yards, 4-6 from 30-39, 8-11 from 40-49, and 3-7 from over 50. Throw out the over 50, and he was 18-23. Doesn't sound to me like he is slipping much.

This appears to be nothing more than a camp contract, Palardy's second one in the past 3 weeks. While it would be rather hilarious to watch Travis pony up after running his mouth, there is about a 5% chance that Palardy is on the Raiders' 53 man roster come September, and that would most likely be as a punter.

If he was a Tennessee kicker he would receive death threats with those numbers.

Could have swore it was the Jets that got Palardy last month - did anyone else see that posted ?

You have it right: the Jets signed Palardy as a UFA. But they cut him earlier this week. The Raiders have simply signed him to another UFA deal.

Pretty much this. He might make it as a punter.

Travis' will pay up if Palardy starts a game as the placekicker.

The best thing about Palardy is his speed. I don't see him place kicking, and I really don't see him as a starting punter either . He doesn't get the ball that high in the air, and doesn't have much hang time. I could be wrong though.

Just imagine if he would have received 4 years of coaching under Butch. I believe he has potential.
