Teams do this a lot for camp. There are a lot of kicking in the preseason so they bring in a guy to save the leg of the regular guy. Palardy's chance with the Raiders is if Janikowski gets hurt. Now if he was on a team without an established kicker, like my pitiful Titans he'd have a chance at winning the competition.

Palardy's signing is nothing but a training camp body. A summer job for the Kid.

When fall rolls around, he will be looking for his next job. If the Jets cutting him doesn't clue you in to his NFL abilities, nothing will. Only if Jano gets hurt in camp will he have a remote chance. And then the Raiders will look to the waiver wire for someone with experience. Remember there are only 32 positions available each year.

Someone isnt exactly clear on what his contract actually is. There's almost no shot he wins a job over 'Ski unless there is an injury or something like that.
