How does a program with 8 national titles come out against a program that has won NOTHING and play scared in the first half? I'd like to hear Warlick answer that question. We played like a frightened high school team. We used to intimidate opponents, and we were TOUGH. The Vols are not tough anymore. We're SOFT. How else to explain that embarrassing first half and giving up 86 points? 86 points? Warlick needs to start recruiting players who do not wilt in big games, and she needs to start cultivating toughness. The players don't need a pal, they someone to build some steely character. I don't mean to sound harsh, but we've lost the steeliness that defined UT women's basketball. And please dont say this was a young team, with a new coach. This was an experienced team with an experienced coach and a bench full of top recruits. I'm sure the Louisvillen coach would love to have our talent. Getting beat is one thing; giving games away by playing like pansies is another. Golden chance to get to the final four for first time in six years. and we play scared. Very diappointing.

I would rather the men's team get into the tourney than the women's team get to the Final Four. Give the ladies props though, at least they danced.

It was the elite 8 btw. They beat Baylor also, not a bad résumé for a team that hasn't won anything.

Disappointment in the play and the preparation for this game. Sure this was the first time in this situation for this team, still they played timid and unsure. Can't win the big ones with that attitude.

We have to remember that the LVs were picked 5th in the SEC but won the SEC season play. They have a very inexperienced team and had devastating injuries during the season. They exceeded expectations and had a great season. I, as most of you, was disappointed in the lost and can identify areas were we could/should have played better. However, all is not lost. We were one of the youngest teams in the NCAA, we had a new coach, and we have the #1 player in the Country coming in this fall. Injuries will be healed and we will be stronger at every position next year. This season is over and we need to look forward, not backward

I like your positive attitude. It will help us feel good about ourselves until next year when reality sets in.

Getting the #1 player is not an automatic pathway to success. Look at Elizabeth Williams. She's turning out not to be as great as expected. Even the highly touted, experienced, all everything Breanna Stewart was mediocre for much of the season.

I don't have the answer, but the Lady Vols are slipping bit by bit each year. The great recruits are going elsewhere at an ever increasing rate. We are being slowly forgotten and I don't have a clue as to what can be done about it.

People need to realize that this is not the same game of the 80's and 90's. Great recruits are going elsewhere because there are more great recruits. We are a victim our own success. The Lady Vols have grown the game over the years and made it popular. The players are getting better overall, thus teams are getting better overall. The name across the jersey doesn't guarantee success anymore. Just because the jersey has Tennessee, Stanford, Baylor or UConn on it doesn't guarantee success year in and year out. The game is growing folks. Get used to it. It's never going to be the way it once was. You can make a run with a superb player such as a Parker, Griner, Diggins, Ogwumike, Dolson or Moore, but there will be some losses in between the great ones. The competition level is rising.

Here of late, it seems we get recruits that play great against subpar talent, but fold under pressure. Simmons played like crap throughout the SEC & NCAA tourney. Spani last night was off. I hate to reference anything that comes out of the mouth of someone from FSU but big time players step up in big time games!

A very classless post.

Don't think it was classless at all. She does not pass the ball; I would put the Louisville loss on her. If you are throwing up bricks you ought to quit shooting. What were her stats. At one time she was 1 for 23 for the last two games. I think she hit a total of three shots last night. She certainly did not look or play like an all-american.

I don't care what you think. She is the female Tony Harris, the most selfish player the Lady Vols has ever had. You sure didn't see her crying with Spani and Kameko, did you? Nope. All she wants to be is a highlight reel. The sooner she's gone, the better.

Can't argue with your logic. Agree 100%. There was a time when Tennessee was the go to place if you were elite. Once Pat made her picks, there was little talent left for anyone else. Now there are so many top players, no one or two teams can corner the market.

Coaching is becoming more important than ever, developing players, recruiting, and figuring out who the real talent is. Too many influential clubs, agents, and celebrity High School coaches publicizing their players by producing slick videos, etc. Harder to tell who is truly good versus who has a great PR staff.

One or two superstar may no longer be enough to win and it will continue to become more difficult to succeed. As the women's game grows, more superior coaches will compete for the increasing lucrative jobs.

The real problem with being a Lady Vol fan is we're just plain spoiled. Eventually, we'll accept the new reality.

All teams look good facing inferior competition. Judging from the fact that there are 3 Big East teams in the final four, perhaps the SEC wasn't as good as we thought. Good teams can make "almost good" teams look very bad. Perhaps Spani & Simmons didn't step up because the competition prevented it from happening.

Tennessee players still get points just for being a Tennessee player. She needs a stronger coach in my opinion. Either that or she's just not open to being coached.

I'm not sure how good of a coach Warlick is, but not even Pat could calm Simmons down. She is totally uncoachable.
