Parcells to the Falcons?

Chris Mortenson just said that he had spoken with Parcells and that Parcells expects to take the job in a meeting today. McKay to stay on for awhile.

heard it on Mike and Mike that he's going to take the job.

Finally someone to clean up the mess a certain GM has created. That ring didn't get him far after leaving Tampa Bay.

He's better at this role than coaching. He'd have the same respect problems Petrino had. He's basically coming in to put something together since the whole place top to bottom has imploded.

Interesting that he doesn't plan to be the GM himself, and that he's willing to include McKay.

He's being polite for the cameras. McKay's had control pulled from him. McKay's there to hand over the keys and let him know where things stand only until a better place is opened up for him.

Obviously Parcells is not going to take the job unless he has total control over all decisions. Hard to even imagine what role McKay could have in such a process.

Nope. Reports already have stated that McKay's control is gone. The VP title is higher than GM. Blank is mercifully telling McKay his work is finished. Merry Christmas.

Mortensen said Mckay would be dealing with some stadium upgrade issues.... fluff stuff 'til Mckay lands somewhere else essentially.

He's on the business end. Dealing with PR and yes upgrade issues, etc. Blank doesn't have it in his heart to just flat out fire someone especially right before Christmas. I'm sure a nice parting gift is in the making.

Dan Reaves might disagree! He was fired at the same point of the season in which BP quit.

Reeves wasn't quite fired at the same point in the season; he resigned after Blank told him they were going to bring in somebody else for next season.

Like he had a choice.....but Blank told him that at what the 11 or 12 game mark? then gives Petrino grief......

Supposedly with two or three games left in the season, Reeves asked Blank if he was going to lose his job, and Blank was candid and said, "yeah, we're probably going to make a change." Reeves decided to go ahead and resign rather than play out the string. I don't see how the two situations are comparable at all; everybody was forthright about their intentions. They handled a bad situation like men.

I'll never listen to those guys on PTI again!

Reeves' nephew Jake played golf at UT and is a pal of mine. I can confirm that description of events is 100% accurate.

Uh, I'm not sure what this means. The only time I ever see PTI is sitting at a bar with the sound turned off.

The current word is that Miami is trying to swoop in and hire Parcells instead.
