Uh, I'm not sure what this means. The only time I ever see PTI is sitting at a bar with the sound turned off.

The current word is that Miami is trying to swoop in and hire Parcells instead.

oh thats where I got the comparison.....

You know Parcells is eating thi $!^* up!

Hey hat what do you think about Kiffin being forced to play Russell? Think Lane might bolt? will it be another Shanahan situation which bites Al in the ass?

Russell is not ready. I think easing him like he has is a good thing. Kif will be around next year for sure. With Al, you never know though. Could be 2 n out...

What? Him being upstairs rather than coaching?
Yes. There's no bigger fan of Parcells as a coach than I am. However, the one place he was given any personnel input was with the Jets. He created a personnel and salary cap car wreck so bad that Belichick took the New England job instead of repacing Parcells in New York.

Yes. Especially since he stays so long wherever he goes. And he has such a way with players as well. Don't get me wrong. He is a great coach. But in the current environment do you want someone who has just a poor history bouncing around as a coach and someone who butts heads with players like he does as coach? Considering this was a large part of the problem with the previous coach, it would not make sense to bring in the similar history. Besides, he is the one setting the bar at being management rather than coaching. If the man wants to bring his skills and talent in at that level without causing any issues then so be it. The place needs restructuring from top to bottom.

And with the Falcons being at the bottom, all he can do is go up.

It was a problem with Petrino because he was a second rate piece of trash with no credentials. Parcells has butted heads with guys, but he's always had their respect.

I guess many of his former players doing interviews think differently. Regardless he'll be the one upstairs making the decisions and not McKay. Blank got tired of having his name associated with scandal and failure.

As if I could give a damn what Terrell Owens thinks about anything.

You have to expect a certain amount of meddling from Al if you coach the Raiders. Lane's smart enough to know that. That team has made significant improvement this year. Lane can see the light at the end of the tunnel. He's not going anywhere.

I'm sure the Dolphins thinking of minority ownership might be enticing enough to consider them. Parcells could come out with a decent percentage.

Nice treatment of McKay though. Especially since they've all but come out and said he was bumped if not booted.

Your powers of assumption are amazing. No names were mentioned. Try again.
Then they're even more meaningless. They certainly won't trump what the Lawrence Taylors, Harry Carsons, Phil Simms, Curtis Martins, Brian Coxs, and Keyshawn Johnsons of the world have to say about him.

So McKay is definitely gone:

Team owner Arthur Blank issued the following statement:
"Late last night it was revealed to the media by a source outside the Falcons that we were close to reaching an agreement with Bill Parcells to lead the club's football operations.
Prior to the information becoming public, we had reached an agreement in principle with Parcells, and we met with him this morning to complete the contract. At that time, we were made aware by Parcells that he was considering a revised offer from the Miami Dolphins. He later informed us that he would not be signing a contract with us.
We remain committed to looking at every option for building a championship-caliber team for our fans. I have stated we will leave no stone unturned in doing so, and this effort is one example of that. We gave it our best shot, and it didn't work out.
We will continue down the same overall path, proceeding with plans to hire a general manager and a head coach. We will identify and consider every strongly viable candidate for these positions, with the goal of hiring the best. Rich McKay remains President of the club and will retain general manager responsibilities until a new GM is hired.
We will be making no further comment on the Parcells matter."

Well, you can't fault Blank for not aiming high. He's gone after the two biggest names out there and come up empty. I'm disappointed but hardly shocked; once it was rumored that Miami was back in the picture, you just knew that the Falcons Effect would take over.

Well this has been an interesting day.

Yes, it has. I come downstairs to the stunning news that Parcells is almost certainly taking over the team; there's a whole day of talk about how he's going to bring a new attitude to the team and instill a culture of winning; by 3:30, we find out that we're still losers after all. Par for the course for the Falcons, I guess.
