Just watching PTI tonite, one of their topics was : Which team is a victory in Saturday's game most important to? Kornheiser said Georgia, Wilbon said both. I feel it is most important to Georgia, as they are reigning Champs. I think it is more important for them to assure themselves that last year wasn't a fluke, and they feel superior(although they haven't played that way this year). They can't afford to lose to an upstart Tennessee team. Meanwhile it is important to us also to prove we are back where we belong in the conversation. We have blown pre-season expectations out of the water. We've gotten two of the three monkeys off our back in ONE year and we're playing with house money. Taking down the national champs would be icing on the cake. So I agree with Wilbon. thoughts?

A loss by Georgia puts them out of the playoff hunt in my mind. Losing as #3 prolly sends them to 6-7 range in rankings. They’d need us to win out which means the west champ would have two losses. I suspect 11-1 UGA reigning champ would get bump over 11-1 Michigan / Ohio State loser. TCU i think could spoil UGA’s bid as 11-1 non conference title game participant.

Really depends on how close the game is.

If you're strictly talking playoff implications it is more important to Georgia because:
1. They don't have a great resume. Yes there is Oregon but we all know Oregon would never be able to beat Alabama, LSU, and probably wouldn't beat Florida either. Georgia has no other good games left after Tennessee either.
2. The game is at their place so they should be able to win at home if they're playoff material.

If Tennessee loses a close one they still have a good shot at the playoffs due to strength of schedule.

Huge game for both teams. It will determine who is playing in Atlanta in December.

Probably decides who is playing in the CFP.

It's honestly more important for UGA. We could lose and still have an outside shot at making the playoffs because we have will have faced 6-7 ranked opponents (at least the time we played them) by that time. If UGA loses, their schedule is isn't strong enough to get a playoff spot, imo.

Naw. Bama dropped a good bit after we beat them by 3. I would expect UGA to drop out of top 5 if we beat them by one possession. I would expect us to stay in top 5 if we lose by one possession.
If UT loses a close one, they probably drop to 4 and Clemson moves up to 3. Besides the TN and Georgia matchup, this is a big week for college fb. Notre Dame could upset Clemson at home and while that game is being played, LSU could beat Bama.

We're in a good spot. But if we beat UGA, we'd have to beat Bama twice. If we lose, there's possibility of meeting UGA in the playoffs. I don't think Clemson has a good resume. Michigan doesn't either. It could be OSU, and three SEC teams in the four.

Basically, if Georgia beats us, we need Bama to beat them in the SECCG to get in. I think if that happens, Ohio State, Bama, us, and TCU gets in.

Edit: I realize this is incorrect now. Thanks for all who corrected me. I was basing this off of "recency bias" that the more recent loss of Georgia to Bama would help us if it happened, but that is unlikely.

I've got a suspicion that LSU might surprise somebody

Notre Dame is straight ass at home. I actually expect Clemson to blow them out.

Yeah, but Bama was favored by 10 points at our place...

What about this scenario? We beat UGA. We meet Bama in the SEC championship game. Bama wins the SECCG. So us, UGA and Bama have 1 loss. Bama goes in as SEC Champ, we go in as 1 loss, and own the tiebreaker head to head with UGA. We might meet Bama in the playoffs, what would have been the odds at the beginning of the year off POSSIBLY playing Bama 3 times?

This is easy: Georgia needs the win more. Because of their resume currently, and their only good win is Oregon first game of the year. If Uga loses they will have no more opportunities to get a big win and wont be in Atlanta. They would need UT to beat Alabama to have any shot to sneak in. If UT loses we still have a path if we end at 11-1, but I would not want to be sitting there on SEC championship day hoping UGa beats Alabama. I just dont see anyway SEC gets 3 in, if there is undefeated Big10, B12 and ACC champs sitting there as well.

If we lose this weekend
Alabama cannot win SEC Championship
Pull for ND upset
Pull for TCU to lose
All this is possible, but dont like playing that game
