Big Orange Nation!

Growing up pretty poor and leaving home at 18 I’ve never been to a VOLS game in person. Although I have work up at all hours of the night all over the world to never miss a game.

This Saturday I’m taking my family to our first ever VOLS game. We plan to arrive to the area around 8 (don’t wanna miss a thing)
wondering where I can find decent parking, I’ll have a 5 year old and a 70 year old with me so I’m trying to limit walking too much.

I’m not familiar with the area at all. Cost doesn’t really matter to me, I just want to make it an amazing experience for my kids and dad.

Any other tips on what to do pregame would be appreciated. Thanks.

Parking closer to campus (Ronald McDonald House is somewhere we park often) runs in the $20-$40 range. But getting there around 8, you can park downtown in the State Street garage for free. The only problem may be the walking length- would guess a mile to the stadium.

If you are willing to wait and get to campus about 9:15, I highly recommend parking by the coliseum in the garage there ($10 total), then taking the shuttle over to campus ($10 per rider round trip). It is easy and requires minimal walking. Shuttles begin leaving the parking garages three hours before kickoff every week. So, for noon kickoff, they will begin leaving at 9 AM.

I usually park at the Ruth Chris Steakhouse parking lot. Its about 1/4 mile past Calhoun's on the right. 30$ to park. Probably 3/4 to 1 mile walk to stadium.

Just don't do like my wife did and drive directly up to the stadium and says "we're here where do I go now." Missed the kickoff to that one.

Go downtown. There's plenty of parking for 20 bucks

I would say so, but it'll be pricey. And with all the road closures, it may not get you that close.

Thanks, Butch. I guess if you have someone who can't walk far you would have to either have to drop them off at campus before the road closures (not sure how long before the game they close the roads) or Uber from a parking lot before the road closures. Is there no place on campus to park for people with handicapped tags that is somewhere near the stadium?

I always take the bus from Farragut High School. They drop you off at Circle Park. Minimal walking and no dealing with traffic. It’s $20 per person, so can be expensive if buying for a whole family.

I live in Farragut, so it works great for me. If you’re coming from west of Knoxville or staying out that way, it may still be worth it.

Best place is garage on STate Street. You can walk to the walkway to cross Henley, up to the the walk way above Cumberland. You cut out the hills and walk around the Hill to the north end zone.

I have a parking pass literally right next to Neyland Stadium overlooking the river. Best tailgating lot on campus. G10 garage, top level. G10T. Literally right there. Email me mcvol99 @gmail.com received_1007175863311496.jpeg

There is but I don't know the details, and I think the spaces are limited. I'd check on the UTSports website.

Handicap parking is at the Ag campus and you have to take a bus to the stadium. Not very Handicap friendly.

Does that mean I would walk west on Clinch over the WF site to get to the new walk way above Cumberland?

Yes, walk through downtown towards the downtown YMCA and use the walkway to reach the world's fair site then cut across to the Hill.

Can also park at Locust St garage for $20 which is immediately across the street from the YMCA
