Past or present college...

Luke Powell, Smyrna HS 1999. 3* QB who went and played WR/KR at Stanford. Was an all-American KR in 2001, I think.

Kelsey Williams (Humboldt High School, 93-96)
-Baddest player to probably ever play in the state of Tennesee, but did not have the grades to get into college. Just ask Eric Westmoreland about him; he has been quoted saying that even after playing college and in the NFL that Kelsey was still the hardest hitter he has ever played against.

Cedrick Wilson (Memphis Melrose)
Al Wilson (JCM)
Jabari Greer (Southside High School)
Chris Donald (Huntingdon High School)
-In high school he was a BEAST! Once he came to UT, he could not pick up the coverages as a linebacker quick enough so they moved him to DE, but was playing behind Ben and Chris. Later transferred to Chatt...

Ernest Williams (Crockett Co. High School)
Michael Oher (Memphis Briarcrest)
Justin Harrell (Martin Westview)

I would have to say that the baddest dude I ever saw play was Scruggs from Trousdale. We had a Mr. Football candidate on the line and he dominated our man. He was a beast.
Same team, Thomas Payne from Trousdale was good enough to play college ball but I'm not sure if he ever did.

I played against Shawn Bohanon at Oak Ridge, but the most electric player I played against was Eric Locke. That was a complete waste of god given talent.

Off the top of my head:

Al Wilson for JCM
Corey Moore, Tyrone Hines, Dexter Hines, Carlos Hines for Haywood County
Kelsey Williams for Humboldt
Patrick Willis And Joe Longmire for Bruceton-Hollow Rock
Chris Donald for Huntingdon
Jabari Greer for South Side
Eric Locke for Riverdale

I watched South Panola HS in Bateseville MS. So much talent on the field it was rediculous.

Impressive list.

I saw some awesome players for a few years. I played against a couple of those guys.

As stated earlier Kelsey Williams was awesome. Ran track against him, he was the best athlete I ever saw.

The best game I ever saw was the game Haywood County knocked out Brentwood Academy out in the semi finals in 1994. Dexter Hines and Corey Moore dominated. I have never seen 2 defensive ends with that talent on a high school team.

1) Randy Moss- DuPont High School/Rand (Charleston) WV; The best athlete I've ever seen with my own two eyes. Was better at basketball than football. Dude was just sick!

2) James "Little Man" Stewart- Morristown West/ Morristown TN; self explanatory.

3) Bobby Howard- DuPont HS/Rand WV (Charleston); HS teammate of Randy Moss and committed with Moss to ND. Moss got in trouble and ended up at FSU then Marshall after violating probation with dirty drug test. Howard went on to have a good career at ND as MLB and played for the Bears. Moss and Howard played with NBA player Jason Williams at DuPont. Hoops team was filthy good. In HS Howard was the hardest hitter I ever saw at MLB and FB. Straight beast.

4) Sean Coffey-Shaw HS/East Cleveland Ohio; my first cousin. 6'5" 225 WR, played for Mizzouri with Brad Smith. Had a big JR season. Was on watch list for Bilitnikoff award his sr. Season but was hampered with a badly separated shoulder. Still had a cup of tea with the Chargers but was cut in favor of Vincent Jackson. To this day he will humbly admit that they made the correct choice in Jackson. He was also a HS All American in hoops.

5) Kevin Coffey-Shaw HS/East Cleveland Ohio; my first cousin and older brother to Sean....#4 on my list. 6'5" 220 WR played for UVA with Thomas Jones. Had a cup of tea with the Panthers and was eventually released.

6) Todd Collins-Jefferson County HS/Jefferson City TN; should have had this guy at #2 or 3 on my list but I'm too lazy to go back and edit. Anyone who saw Todd knows why I'm naming him. This dude straighter murdered people on the field. I was a lil feller when I saw him (11 or 12) but dude was the truth. IIRC I think he didn't go to UT because they didn't offer his brother Brent.Correct me if i'm wrong, that's been a while. Jeff County was one of the top teams in the nation when he played. He played 10-12 years in the league. Won a SB with Patriots AS A STARTER and played in another and lost with the rams. Not bad for a local boy who went to Carson Newman.

Demonte Bolden/ Tyner High School /Chattanooga, TN - Watched him play the most out of all of these guys. He was absolutely dominant in HS. I'll never forget seeing him hit a QB from the blind side and completely flipping him. I think if he could have gotten his academics in order and went straight to UT as a freshman, he would have had a monster career.

B.J. Coleman/ McCallie /Chattanooga, TN - Only saw him one time in person, but he definitely looked like he would compete at UT. I wish he would have stuck around in orange.

Gerald Riggs Jr./ Redbank High School/ Red Bank, TN - I was in middle school watching this guy play. I remember he was the first high school guy I could remember that had a super star status around town. Everyone knew who he was and if you watched him play you knew he was going to be great. I think if he hadn't been hurt his senior season at UT he would have gone on to great things.

I saw Teague play a first round playoff game. He was a beast. They pulled him by the third because it was over. If I'm not mistaken Florida was there at the game. They had a coach in a blue Florida jump suit standing where the media guys can stand.

He was an absolute game changer in high school. At the time it was no secret why he was so heavily recruited. If I remember correctly, he was leaning heavily towards Florida until Kiffin was hired and started recruiting him. Shame his college career turned out the way it did, but that's life I guess.

I remember a time when it was a popular opinion that the best athletes in West TN outside of Memphis were in Haywood County. Crazy how much that program is struggling now.

Jackson has definitely produced its share of studs as well.

Speaking of Jackson, I hear Madison County is going open-zone next year. If the right coach gets his foot in the door at one of those programs, then there could be a power house brewing in Jackson at the 4A level.

Prospects. Provide name, position, and where they played. Preferably give information about players from your high school or area. Also, a prerequisite is you need to have seen them play at least once. I just want a check on how good are our state prospects and if we are producing more, the same, or less recruits. That includes past, present, or future.

I like the idea, but from what I've seen on this site people tend to think that guys like BJ Coleman, Rod Wilks and pretty much anyone from Maryville are way, way better than they actually are.

His college career was extremely promising until Dooley moved him from WR.

Over the last few years here is Arkansas, I've seen Michael Dyer, Mitch Mustain (Mustang), Damien Williams, and Dareen McFadden play - surprised Mustain's career went nowhere.

Instead of going JUCO, he went to USC.

Dumbest decision he ever made.

Carl Pickens from Murphy H.S.(N.C.). He would return kickoffs and at midfield turn around and jog backwards into the endzone. I also played against Benji Shuler in Dixie Youth Football.

The only NFL guy I know for sure I've watched play in HS is Matt Stafford when he was at Higland Park TX HS. Great games to watch. You can tell the guy had "it".
