Pastner negative recruitment towards UT...

Personally I'm just glad to know that I am now a minion. And my parents didn't think I would ever amount to anything.

- Can Memphis fans tell me about the great Pastner taking his Memphis team from the top 10 out of the top 25 within 3 weeks last year, never to return?

- Can you explain to me, in vivid detail, how difficult it is to win in Hattiesburg? Or a reasonable explanation for losing by 15 points to noted basketball powerhouse Rice?

- Can one of you tell me why Pastner, the next Calipari, failed to beat a single ranked team in three years despite pulling in four 5-star players in that time period? Hell, Martin beat 3 last year alone with a makeshift roster.

Please, explain these to me, I'm dying to hear from you.

Pastner is a great recruiter and now has a good team of assistants behind him. Southern Miss has always been a rivalry in all sports. One of those that it doesn't matter how good or bad the team is. UT has those. Rice, no excuse for. A bad loss. Everyone has them. SOrt of like the loss to Austin Peay. This was a young team and they just blew it.

Pastner hasn't officially beaten a top 25 team but he has beaten teams that ended up in the top 25 and teams that made the NCAA.

So because I started this thread it means I think it's true???

The fact I said, I thought I'd share this with you from another site...doesn't matter??

Glad you cleared that one up.

I will admit Knoxville is 10x more fun then Lex. The fact the Pigeon Forge is only 45 min away makes it all the sweeter.
Go Karts FTFW!!!

Serious question. No go-carts in Kentucky?

That place is even worse than I thought.

If you consider Southern Miss a "good rivalry", then Memphis isn't even close to as big time a program as you all think. It's one thing to lose to Austin Peay in the first month of a transition, quite another to keep doing nothing in season three.

But, please, keep Josh Dooley-Pastner as your coach. I'll love watching talent go to waste there because the Hall Monitor can't coach his way out of a paper bag.

Joe Biden, can you not read?......change your 'good rivalry' to rivalry as I stated in the first place. Don't put words in my mouth Joe. It's a rivalry and has been for years. Memphis has been in the same conference with them for years.......Metro, MW, etc. They usually have a good football team and they've got a decent bb coach and have some talent. Memphis not a big time program........look at the recruits. Somebody thinks they are in basketball. Pastner can't help what conference they have been stuck in for years.

Doing nothing in 3 seasons? One NIT, 2 NCAAs in Pastner's first 3 seasons as a HC period is not 'nothing'. Calipari left Memphis with nothing and Pastner came in with 7 scholarship players the first year. I don't know of any coach that has the kind of record he has in 3 years for a first time HC. Not coach K, not Calapari, not Roy. Sure the conference wasn't the strongest but they had one of the strongest non conference schedules in the country last year.

Hate on Memphis all you want Joe. You haven't heard me doing the same to UT.

BUT there isn't a single coach in the country that has done what he has in their first 3 years of coaching.

BOTTOM LINE

I'd say Shaka Smart has done pretty well in his first 3 seasons.

Edit: Brad Stevens didn't do horribly either.

I could give a damn if you "hate on Tennessee". Memphis fans do it enough for me to point out the shortcomings of the Tiggers.

And, I'm glad Pastner has a decent record playing in a scrub conference and beating no one. There's nothing that suggests future greatness by going 25-10 against Marshall, SMU and Rice with a bunch of 5 star kids. You can see your same arguments for Pastner next door on our football.
