Pat Fitzgerald's Name Flying Around

Salary isn't that important to him. If it was he would've taken the Michigan job two years ago as he was rumored to.

I wouldnt have taken the Michigan job either having to follow Rich Rod. Plus thats a rival and hated school of his Alma Mater so not likely a job he would have been interested in anyway. Atleast not already being a HC. Maybe if he had been an assistant somewhere and been his first HC opportunity. He may be loyal to his school and never leave but I would have a hard time believing he would turn down a big raise and chance to coach at a big time SEC school. But not likely we will ever know the answer.

He's not leaving Northwestern. Period. Sorry. And this is coming from someone who would be overjoyed to see him be the head coach at Tennessee.

Can't find any article that says he was ever offered the Michigan job. He may have been but I can't find any evidence of that.:hi:

I heard that on the radio last Monday or Tuesday. I think it was jimmy hyams talking. He said meat chicken approached Fitzgerald when they fired rich rod and he said, thanks but not interested.

I would love to get him for the vols. but I don't think there is a chance intheworld he leaves NW

Several people we overheard Saturday would disagree, we'll see how it plays out///:hi:

Right. We need to go all in on a pipe dream of Jon Gruden. No way we'll be disappointed then!

No need to get nasty. You say neither will come anyway...LOL :dance2: Let me ask u gv120. who do u think is a possibility, we certainly know who u do not....

If I had to guess, Charlie Strong is a realistic candidate. Then again I don't know that I'd really love to overpay for a head coach from the Big East.

I don't know much about Greg Roman but his name is picking up steam. Gary Patterson will be mentioned like always, but Tennessee would have to put together a heck of a package to even get consideration. Interested in some of the mid-major guys (Gary Andersen at Utah State, Mike Macintyre at San Jose State, Mark Hudspeth at ULL, etc.).

Anderson @ Utah State seems to be a real good coach. Have read he is very well liked by players and staff and is doing well at a tough place to do well. Nice call on that one...

Patterson has proven to be a good coach with Texas and A@M leftovers in the rich state of Texas, not sure he would be a great recruiter down here..

I fell in love with Utah State last year thanks to the Auburn/BYU games and their bowl game. Andersen has been overlooked pretty badly on a national level.

Had Sky Box Seat tickets given to me for the game yesterday. Heard a new name being tossed around alot up there. I heard Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald's name mentioned at least 5 or 6 times by different groups of people. No link or source just repeating what I was hearing.. Go Big Orange:hi:

5-6 times by different groups of people? ok

I'd be happy with Pat Fitzgerald if Jon Gruden and Chris Petersen turn us down first.

Jon Gruden
Chris Petersen
Gary Patterson
Pat Fitzgerald
Dan Mullen
Jim Mora

Anyone else and I'd probably be disappointed barring some unexpected miracle hire like Bob Stoops or Pete Carroll.
