Great quote from Geno: "Lots of people coach the game, but very few get to define the game."

How true that statement is.

I didn't always show it very well, but I have always respected the kind of person Pat really was. Aside from one of the GOAT coaches, she seemed like a special human being. I always admired her from up in Lexington.

Sending prayers to the UT family, and those who are close to Pat. She deserves to be at rest now, she is free from all pain and struggle.

I remember being in California for the UCLA v. UT game several years ago and noticed Pat walking outside of the Tennessee tailgate location. I can honestly say that I was in awe and could not believe she was right there walking beside me. Watching her coach so many games on TV and it was so cool seeing her in person and everyone was going crazy. Rest in peace Pat. Thoughts and prayers to your family.

It's a sad day. Sad for her family, sad for UT, sad for all women's sports, sad for all men's sports, sad for me.

Pat Summitt is a class act and will be missed.

During Pearls time at UT I had an opportunity to meet her. I was at UT interviewing for a position with the AFROTC unit and was in my uniform when I decided to stop at TBA to just look around... Well the entrance into the basketball arena was open so I just walked in and wanted to see the view from the court. All of a sudden i heard someone walking and when I turned around and it was her. She asked if she could help me and I apologized and said I just wanted to see what it looked like from the court and she laughed. She actually took 5 minutes and talked to me (probably helped I was in uniform) then told me to follow her. We went to her office and she autographed a basketball for me and wished me luck and told me to stay safe.
Actually got lucky and Pearl gave me one too. I was so impressed and not for the autograph but because she could have kicked me out but was very nice and took a few minutes to talk to a fan.

Pat Summitt embodies what being a Tennesseean is all about

R.I.P. Coach. You will never be forgotten. I remember watching the Lady Vols on the tube back in the mid to late 90's and CPS would pace back and forth on the sidelines. I thought that Bobby Knight was tough. Those Pat Summitt "stares" were so piercing that I could feel it from my couch. She wanted the best for her players and she exemplified that through her teachings and being a positive role model for many young women. They say that time heals all wounds, but this one.....
Godspeed to the Head & Summitt families and friends.

Reppin' the ole Tennessee Vol cup today in Pat Summitt's honor.

R.I.P. to one of the best coaches in all of sports history. It's not often you have a coach who creates as much as an impact on a sport as a whole as Pat did. She exemplified what it meant to be both a great coach and leader, both on and off the court. Truly an inspiration to many. You will be missed but your legend will live on forever, and your fingerprints on the history of women's basketball will never fade.

This is the most mournful news for Tennesseans since learning of Davy Crockett's death at the Alamo. Legends like Pat and Davy are very rare. This is a very sad day for me.

RIP, Coach. You always made all us so proud to be Tennesseeans.

I've spent most of the morning reading tributes and articles about Coach Summitt.

Sadness has taken over me and I've never even met her. The closest I got to seeing her was at a DePaul basketball game years ago. During that time I met a senior high school player that Pat recruited (Candace Parker).

It is because of Coach Summitt that I became a Lady Vol fan. Her teams have given me so much joy in my life. I am forever grateful and honored to have lived during her era.

Rest in Peace coach Summitt.

GoLadyVols!
