Pat Summitt Tribute Colors for...?

Christ on his throne! Look, I am FULLY aware of and appreciate Coach Pat Summitt's contributions to women's basketball (and women's sports in general). But why must this trickle into Tennessee Football? One has zero to do with the other.
Peyton has stated that Pat was one of the people he met with after his junior season and gave him valuable advice before he returned for his senior season. She will forever be intertwined with all Tennessee athletics. She needs to be honored any chance we get because she represents the greatness we all want every program to experience.

Agree! I’ve followed LVBB since early 70’s when it was still AAU and I can’t recall any Gen. Neyland patches on LV uniforms or jersey numbers of Reggie White, Doug Atkins, Bob Johnson, Peyton Manning, ……………….etc.
Did any of those people get their remaining years of their professional/coaching career taken away from them due to a horrible incurable disease? The disrespect people are showing towards Pat is alarming.

It's not disrespectful. I just don't care to see baby-freaking-blue entwined with our football unis. If they want to put a sticker on the helmet or a patch on the jersey, fine.

We don't have to wear blue to honor Pat - who btw, is my all time # 1 sports idol. Greatest person on any sideline to ever coach.

And FYI, these are my other sports idols that she beat out:

Mickey Mantle
Joe Namath
Arnold Palmer
Walt "Clyde" Frazier
Mark Messier
Mike Tyson
Reggie White
Brett Favre
Peyton Manning
NAMATH?????

A sticker or patch does nothing for exposure. Whenever they are broadcasting the game or showing highlights and people who never pay attention to basketball see Tennessee wearing blue those people will say “why are they wearing blue?” It gets more spotlight on dementia. It’s not even about Pat really, it’s about what she was fighting for with her foundation. So I guess y’all don’t really care about Pat’s foundation or you wouldn’t be so concerned over the damn colors the football team is wearing. It shows that you care more about how someone looks and dresses vs trying to advance treatment for a horrible disease. Good to know where everyone’s priorities are in life.

Do you really think wearing blue on Saturday makes ANY difference in the fight against dementia??? I feel about this the same way I feel about sports teams dressing up like newborn baby girls in October. Like, at this point is anyone NOT aware of breast cancer? It's empty symbolism that isn't moving the needle on anything. Its like the stupid ribbons people wear at awards shows. But I guess it makes some people feel better/more virtuous if they think they can show how much they care. SMDH.

Assistant coaches from other sports would attend her practices to watch her to improve their coaching skills. She touched a lot more than just women's hoops

Does keeping Neyland on the the name of UT football stadium really improve the play of the team or add wins to a season?

Some things are done merely out of respect and to honor significant individuals.

You know the proceeds of those “stupid ribbons” go directly to cancer awareness? Money is a form of showing support so it’s not empty symbolism as you think it is. Why are so much against this idea? It’s odd to get so worked up over something as minor of the football uniforms. It’s really not a big deal to make it a weeklong celebration in honor of one of the most revered people in all of sports. So I guess we should just never celebrate anything in life and be boring, miserable human beings?

Has nothing to do with disrespect. You failed to answer the original question.

I think that Pat is and always be a legend in all of our hearts but to try to shame people for their ways to honor her is beyond childish. Grow up.

I am grown up and I’m telling you that Pat was the only one out of that group that had her career prematurely ended due to something completely out of her control. She could still be coaching to this day. Once again, people getting bent out of shape over a damn uniform. Our “fans” are certainly unique. No wonder everyone always laughs at us.

In the end the University and team will honor Pat how they see fit. If it's Blue Accessories that the football teams wears, so be it.

There are several that coach well into their 70s.
Unpopular to say, but dementia aside, the game was already passing her by and she was getting out recruited. Had she not lucked out and landed Candice Parker, her drought would've been even longer. The Lady Vols were on a downward trajectory long before the dementia diagnosis.

Lord have mercy. Lady Vols were 1st and 5th in recruiting in 2011 and 2012, and had two top 8 recruits coming in 2013. Won the SEC regular season 2 out of her last three seasons and finished 2nd her last season. Also won the SECT all three of those years. Went to the Sweet 16 and two Elite 8’s those last three years. Add to the fact that she started noticing dementia symptoms in about 2010 where she was asking people when her meeting was three times in one hour. If she were completely healthy she would have still been rocking one of the best programs in the country. God forbid she have 1 average season in 2008-09 the season after the best player in program history left. Outside of that lone season she finished 1st or 2nd in the conference and went to the Sweet 16 EVERY single season from 1991-2012. You are just trolling at this point brother. GTFO 🤣🤣🤣
