Pattersons grades

If the rumors about Patterson are true this is another indictment on Dooley. The minute Patterson quit going to class Dooley should have sat him. What is the point of kicking Da'rick off theteam if you allow this to happen.

This program is a cluster f***, and it starts at the top!

He is going to class...he just prefers to listen to music or sleep while he is there.

...BUT HES ABOVE YOU.

No, he's not. There's nothing about selling your body to the highest bidder and allowing him to destroy it for 5, 10, 15 years for the sake of entertaining the public that places anyone above anyone else. Call a spade a spade; he's sacrificing his body on the Altar of Ball and is enjoying himself while he still has the physical and mental capacity to do so.

It's his body and life to sacrifice for our pleasure, and that's ok. One career-ending hit later and he's going to wish he'd payed attention in class.

Panem et circenses, and I'm as guilty as the rest of you.

How many times have we seen people uneducated get into the NFL to make big time money, and now they are with no job and no money. I hope CP gets payed and knows what to do with it.

Of course Bray will go. Hunter, CP, Rivera and ZRog will all be gone. Bray's not gonna start over again. He's been here for three of the worst years in UT history, he's frustrated and he'll be glad to get out. These guys did not grow up UT fans and they're not gonna have great memories of their time here-- it's been a trainwreck. I hate to see them go, but I wish them well.

He didn't rebuild sh!t. Talent was never the problem with Texas A&M as they were a preseason top 10 team last year, Mike Sherman's incompetence was their problem.

Summlin found Johnny Football - all the rage in College Station - check out the T Shirts on Ebay == Longdorn fans have gotta be so jealous of them now (no symbols to do it but --- horns down @ you Mack Brown)

Wrong again, Johnny Manziel is a redshirt freshman that signed with Sherman not a true freshman that signed with Sumlin.

Those 3 are gone IMO.

A few o lineman as well.

We wont be totally bare but the offense will be a lot different.

This will be the vols best draft in a while.

If Dooley were coming back, I could see that, but honestly, all 3 have severely damaged their stock...especially Bray. He has developed a rep for folding like a deck of cards under pressure. Lots of potential, but not what NFL teams want to see.

Hunter has been shut down in too many big games and just hasn't made nearly as many big catches as he has the previous 2 years. CP is certainly a dynamic athlete, but he's practically done nothing as a WR to warrant a high draft pick. He'd be seen as a ST/Athlete, and I don't see a team taking him before the 3rd Rd.

If Gruden does come, I'd imagine he'd do all he can to get all 3 back and coach 'em up. After all, with his NFL connections, I'm sure he could pitch the notion "if you play one more year for me, I can pull some strings for you come draft day."

Staying in school and then being ineligible would be counterproductive for Patterson. I hope he goes for his sake while his stock is still high. For our sake, I hope he stays and keeps his grades up.

Haven't seen anything better than second round projections for him but he could parlay a big combine into low first round maybe.

even if he goes in the 5th round dude will still rake in the bucks after he is really polished...5th round? a couple of a hundred grand...2 years in a pro system with his talent...a couple a mill a year.....he is gone.

IMO CP and Hunter are gone. I think it depends on the coaching staff that comes in to see if Bray stays for his senior year.

Hunter will be gone, has a kid,Bray will go,has a cannon for a arm,he will be drafted well, from what is being said about CPs grades,he is planning on going, here is to hoping no career ending injuries for them and they need that education

Some kids just are not good students. NFL requires some time in school, he accomplished that and will make more than 99% of the successful students in the world. It is what it is. Enjoy him for who he is, a baller.

Hate that's the case. Would love to have him one more year.

says the guy who can't spell PAID lol jk...He would make more in one year in the nfl than most make in an entire career using his education

Make more in a YEAR than most people with a good education make in their entire career???

LMAO!

You're obviously young and don't know how things work my friend.

1...There's a new payscale in the NFL for rookies so they do NOT get the HUGE $$$ on their 1st contract like they used to get.

2...Then you subtract all the $$$ that their agent gets.

3...Then you subtract about 50% for all the taxes that have to pay.

4...Bottom line is that if a NFL player gets a contract for $1 Million per year he'll do well to actually take home $400,000. per year and the facts are proven that most NFL players are clueless on how to manage/invest money and most are BROKE very soon after their playing days are over.

Vince Young won a National Championship for Texas, was a hero in Texas and a HUGE name in football.

He made several Million $$$ just for the ads he did, endorsements, ect, ect and made over $30 Million for being a total BUST for the Titans.

Today he's BROKE, totally bankrupt and has lawsuits against him to repay Millions of $$$ he borrowed.

If he had a real education and a brain and was mature at all he should have enough $$$ to be set for life but instead he's BROKE like most Pro ball players end up unfortunately.

I agree that our Vols are going to lose alot of guys after this season and that next season probably won't be very good and many on here will start hating our new coaches.

Leaving early for the NFL is actually a dumb move for many kids because they'll LOSE tons of $$$$ on their 1st NFL contract by getting drafted much lower than they could have if they had stayed in college for an extra year.

What's really sad is that most kids in the NFL will never see a 2nd contract come their way and if they do it's for minimum $$$ to be a backup.

It all sounds great when somebody gets a $50 Million contract but most will never take home 1/2 of that amount and then most will spend it stupidly and end up broke.

Many thousands of kids play in high school...drops down to several thousand play in college...drops down to less than 2,000 play in the NFL and for many of those guys there's a couple of hundred every year that get replaced and will never play again.

It's rare that many guys leave the NFL with a small percentage of all the money they collected are are sound financially the rest of their lives and that's very sad indeed.

VFL...GBO!!!

I hear ya, man. I have a good friend who recently retired from the NFL after 11 years as a starting and backup QB. He made millions while playing, albeit never hundreds of millions...and he had $3M in the bank the day he retired. He, his wife, and three children live in a 2200 sq/ft home in Louisiana...and now he's working hard to build a commercial construction company.

During his last season, he was paid $800,000 to backup a QB injured team...half way through the season. He ended up using that money to pay for his modest new home.

He has said to me, "Thank goodness for my pension."

I have no problem with this, and have no idea what kind of student Patterson is, but I do get sick of the tools on VN who continuously insist that Dooley is only recruiting "quality kids". Dools is the same as all of the others _ he is not interested in the kids he recruits, only in how they can help him win.

If we don't win at least ten games, I'm calling for the new coach's head.

You have lost your mind. The roster next season will be as bad if not worse than when Dooley took over.

Patterson, Hunter, Bray, Sentimore, D Thomas and J James are all likely gone to NFL and now with Maggitt having a torn ACL and will likely not be healthy till mid season. The roster will have to be built back up for us to compete.

people MUST understand. These kids are there for one reason, and one reason only. football. I get the grades issue, im a d3 kid myself, so for me i need the grades to be eligible. But CP plays at tennessee, hes a baller, hes a shot caller, cover your ears educators.. BUT HES ABOVE YOU.

If he cannot show the character, effort, or leadership off the field that he shows on the field then he is above no one and is a thug.

That is the problem a lot of gifted athletes, I hope this is not the case here and it's just immature kid jargon....

Don't care.

If we're going to buy out Dooley at 5 mil and hire another coach at that much a year, i want to see ten wins minimum or I'm calling for his head.

If we're going into 2013 expecting 7 or 8 wins, why not just keep Dooley?

In response to the thread about cps grades being in trouble, I have a friend who has a class with him and supposedly every class he listens to his beats and falls asleep. Not good. I really hope he stays
Rumors again? If not,I don't call him a baller I call him a person that disrespects a teacher trying to install some sort of wisdom upon a person. It's disgusting if true.
