It could be just an expieriment to see what response theyd get in targeting an audience, if response is low it'll be a short lifespan.

I agree. Chances are they'd just start with the non-televised games and work from there.

Alright, I've made my decision: I'm all for it as long as it removes the white suit bastard and the necessary evil of dealing with JP "sportscasters."

There's no way that the network games are going anywhere, though. Too much in advertising moolah.

Steve Greenberg writes in the June 9th Sporting News:

ESPN is negotiating with the Big Ten to become the official network of college sports most powerful conference. By itself, that wouldn't necessarily mean much to you; the Big Ten is all over ESPN and its partner network,ABC, especially for football. But thats just a start. The Big Ten also reportedly is negotiating a deal with DirectTV to form the Big Ten Network on pay-per-view. If such a deal were to unfold-the current TV contracts expire in 2007-you can bet the SEC would follow suit,so you would have to part with a few Jacksons to watch the two premier college sports conferences. Lucky you.

There it is! Read into it what you will!

I certainly wouldn't mind paying 10 bucks if it meant I didn't have to watch it on JP/LF...

geographically speaking out here theres a better chance for me to see agame if its PPV...and a chance at 10 bucks is better than not at all, so for me the option would be a good 1.

Anyone who wouldn't pay $10 to see the Vols play are not fans.
Since when does how much money you give have anything to do with being a "big vol fan". I give my money because I have it. I have friends that are huge fans and they can not afford to go to games. Hell, they can barely afford to drive to work with the gas prices. They are on a fixed budget and there is not room for and extra ten dollars, but they will listen to the games on radio. So since they cant "pay" to see the Vols are they any less of a fan? In my opinion, no. We take every effort to get them to games with donated tickets and chipping in and they absolutley go wild for the Vols. Another fee to watch what is already free over the air (minus the cost to turn on the tube and buy some rabbit ears) count me out. The fleecing of America people. The superweathly robbing the last dime from the poor. Forget pay per view, I will listen on the radio if it comes to that.

This is the first I'd heard of the Lincoln Financial thing.
And it will now be LF Sports Network.

If only the announcers were going to change with the name....
