Pearl at the RTL tonight....

There would be no reason for him to go watch his former players that committed to play for him and went thru the good and bad with him, is there. Some of you fail to understand a coach/player relationship. He's not on home confinement.

yes a publicity stunt. his son wasn't playing and he doesn't have a relationship with any other rtl player. he'd have no other reason to want to watch a basketball game. i not sure he even enjoys the game.

It's not like he was lead in the story or the picture associated with the story about the RTL. BP got no publicity from attending.

I'm surprised Pearl had the time to break away from recruiting and camp to make it to this game.

I particularly liked this quote as he's being interviewed on camera, "If I come, I don't want to be on TV, I want these guys (players) to be on TV."

He has been low-key for sure. I'm actually kinda hoping he will somewhat try to emulate Pearl's promotion tactics. IMO, one of the best things he could do to get the support of students is make surprise appearances at populated spots on campus during class (such as the UC dining halls, Presidential Court, Humanities plaza, the grassy area in front of Ayres, etc.). Maybe it's just me, but it meant a lot to me when Bruce came to Smokey's to promote the OOC game that was going on that night. He went from table to table to personally invite everyone to the game. Of course he also posed for pictures and signed autographs.

I just think he and the basketball program could benefit if Martin tried to find some common ground with the Pearl lovers. IMO, the strategy I discussed is incredibly easy for both parties. This may be crazy, but it could backfire if there happen to be some crazy ignorant fans who start to boo him or trash talk. I wouldn't think that would happen, but you can never underestimate our fanbase..

His strategy should be to wins games and be himself.

The purpose of the visit was to get some media attention, and he accomplished that goal. I think it's completely inappropriate.

Exactly. "I don't know want to be on camera, so that's why I'm doing an interview on camera."

I hope they turned the temp. down. Don't want him stripping out of his jacket when his son gets a travelling call

Did he screw everything up at the RTL, like he did this program?
