Pearl in Orange Suspenders...

Tennessee doesn't dress Pearl up and Pearl owns a bunch of orange. Anyone who thinks a school would be connected to someone based on what they wear has a few screws loose. Do you know how many people wear University of Tennessee shirts that haven't attended UT? When I see someone wearing a school shirt or school colors, my first thought isn't "They must have attended that school". My first thought is "They're a fan". Bruce Pearl is a Tennessee fan... big deal. To make the assumption he still has ties to the school based on what he wears is dumb. It's freaking clothes...

I'm sure the 'AA saw right through it and assumed, like most others, that he was being a smartass. Sorry you don't see it.

Ab-so-lutely. Winner.

Yes, but I also acknowledged that I think it was a sincere gesture at the same time. I know that plenty of people discount every little thing Pearl does and just call him a liar, Jew, or melanoma victim. My goodness, some of you would have him exiled for donating to Habitat for Humanity. They'd say "Oh, he's so slimy. The little rat!"

C'mon, why can't we find a fair medium? Pearl is not a god (like many make him out to be), but he's also not the worst person in the world (what many make him out to be).

Completely missing the point yet again

My question is, how many people (i.e. Vol fans) will appreciate what Bruce did for the men's basketball program? Will UT ever find anyone else as good?

I appreciate BP & the energy he brought to the men's bb program. Doubtful we'll see his equal as a coach at UT.

Well said guys. CBP understands that Tennessee gave him the opportunity of a lifetime. He also understands that he took that opportunity and ran with it. But finally, he understands that he is the only one to blame for his actions. You don't hear him trying to shift blame like someone else there is.

oh Lane, you rascal

I seem to remember him trying to share blame with others in the presser following the Michigan disaster.

All of his coaching staff including him still express love for the university and their fans. I think they're all smart enough to know that this was the best times of their careers and that there is no reason to turn back on a fan base that still loves them.

I disagree. He needs to move on. As long as he openly associates himself with UT, he's a distraction.

It's absolutely untrue that the fanbase still loves him. Maybe ~50%.
