Pearl made it fun for me, when I could care less

You do realize I go to every Tennessee football and basketball home game, right? Everyone on this board realizes I love Tennessee.

If you dont think Scotty Hopson or Tyler Smith improved while they were here you must have stayed at the concession stand the whole time.

All the people who wanted Fulmer gone said we would be better off. Now our football program is a complete disaster thanks to the way hamilton handled it(hiring Kiffen). Get ready for the same disaster in basketball. I don't see this working out. Lucky for me, Pearl is the only reason I pay attention to the sport. I'll just go back to not giving a crap!

I'm pretty sure the football record has been better each of the two years since the fat oaf was fired than it was in his final season.

Tyler Smith improved so much he went from a borderline first round NBA pick to playing in the Turkish league. That's some awesome player development.

we've been through this once. Why do you continue to tell us how little that you care and that you'll be gone, only to keep coming back? I don't get it. Are you that proud of your awe inspiring ambivalence? Do you want a plaque? Maybe a parting gift? Help a brother out.

Hard to leave the party when you can't find the door.

What specifically has Bruce done to make Scotty better? His ball handling, passing, effort, attitude?

Bruce had a plan to hold back Scotty until next year. Now that pearl is getting unfairly crucified, his master plan will never take action.

And, what did Tyler Smith improve at during his time at Tennessee? I remember them identifying his three point shooting percentage as an area of improvement; and it never went up at all.

As long as your slamming UT anything goes but dont try to defend UT's honor.

"UT's honor" was slammed when the basketball coach lied about a minor violation, in turn causing an NCAA investigation and getting him fired.

Those taking up for a guy that got Tennessee in trouble aren't trying to "defend Tennessee's honor"

Yeah I know we need Kevin O'Neill back his chrome dome will be a shining beacon on the hill.He will restore honor and integrity back to UT.Or maybe he will run away again when he doesn't get his way.His integrity is impeccable just ask hatvol....:whistling:

Everyone together: how much less could you care?!

Again, you are the true NegaVol; you seriously aren't going to care if Pearl is gone? That makes you a bandwagoner.

So do us all a favor and go ahead and exit stage left now.

It is not a tragedy. He made his own bed, now he must sleep in it. There are other coaches who can do a better job than Pearl. Getting rid of him immediately following the tourney will put UT in good position, timing wise, to land another good coach.

If he is indeed gone, it is a tragedy.

His teams have given me so many fond memories. I was there when a perfect game plan foiled Ohio State's run last year and took us to the Elite Eight.

I watched us take it to #1 Memphis to prove that WE were the elite in-state school and no one else.

I saw my best friend, a Jayhawk, wilt in utter shock and disbelief when a shorthanded Tennessee team beat #1 Kansas up inside, outside and all over the floor for a win that ZERO people in the country thought we had a chance in.

I watched Dane Bradshaw steal the ball and race down the floor to ice the win over eventual National Champion winners Florida, then we did it again.

Chism, Lofton, James, Bradshaw, players that I probably could have cared less about, Pearl made great.

But most of all, what I will miss most, is the EXPECTATION that we will win the game, KNOWING that there is a chance no matter the competition, Pearl has given that to me.

People here think that we have the capacity to continue the program with a good hire, but the reality is, the odds are statistically stacked against us. We go back on the coaching carousel and hope for the best.

I will miss you Bruce Pearl. Of that I am sure.

Well said sir...:hi:

It's a tragedy in the classic Greek sense. Successful and powerful man brought low by a flaw in his own character.

It doesn't completely work because the tragic hero is not usually quite so directly culpable for everything that goes on, but it's pretty close.

Pearl seriously made UT basketball a fun event for my four (five) years of college. While football was almost a complete mess these last four years (which is why I always wanted to go to UT), I got to watch Chris Lofton, Jujuan Smith, and Dane play their hearts out for the Orange. Thank you BP and good luck.
