Pearl Needs to Get Out of the Way

We did an excellent job with our transition offense for about 30 minutes. Then, by design, Pearl slows the tempo to a snail's pace, and it simply opened the door for the come back. If we keep the foot on the gas, we win that game by 25+. It's clear that this team needs to push the ball when the opportunity is there. Plan for tomorrow night: Bruce, get out of the way with the constant play-calls and draining the shot clock and use your athletes to your advantage. If that happens, we have a great shot at the W.

What you have to remember is Pearl has to slow it down when he can. We can get a lead but then he has to slow it back down because theoretically(sp?) if we were to win and advance we would play 4 games in 4 days. If that were to happen you can't go full out fastbreak all game every game. In a tournament atmosphere you have to try to save energy whenever possible.

Even when we slow it down we should be posting Tobias up then let him pass out of the double team or let him go to work. I wouldn't mind slowing it down so much if they actually had a plan. And I definitely think that Tobias is going to have another big game tonight!

If you lose the game saving energy isn't of much benefit. We have more depth than anyone in the tournament. Play hard throughout the game, push the ball, and don't take every game down to the last 2 minutes trying to pull out a win. We don't use our talent and depth to our advantage when we start walking the ball up the floor and putting no pressure on the opposing team by having no offensive movement until the last 10 seconds of the possession.
