Tennessee is by far in the dominant position in this negotiation.
Sort of.
If Tennessee wanted to fire him, he'd be gone already. And, if the NCAA hammers him badly enough, they still will.
So it's a given that (a) they want him coaching here, and (b) he won't be if the NCAA forces their hand.
Tennessee is still dominant, and can change their mind at any time and go ahead and say never mind, just don't come back. But the fact that they clearly want him coaching here does give him some leverage.
The more he wins, the better his leverage, and the more he loses, the worse his leverage.
Not a huge surprise that the negotiations were stalled when we were 7-0, and now that we're fighting to be relevant his guys suddenly submit a new version of the thing.
