Peculiar Comments from George Plaster Yesterday...

I made a bet and I lost. Although I seldom lose, the fact that the game was a flat ass whoopin means I deserved everything coming from it. Your welcome.

I thought we had been beating you pretty regular here lately.

Seriously, stand up move. Always good to not take yourself or any of this too seriously.

I heard the comments as well, and Plaster has a point. What he was saying is that Jones was as much to fault as Pearl and although he was hit with recruiting sanctions as well, he gets the benefit of Pearl being suspended to become a "head coach" for 8 games and show himself to the coaching world.

With the way things are turning out both coaching are still being punished.

George Plaster is a blathering idiot. He has been saying this for weeks. He is SERIOUSLY butt hurt that his station is the flagship for the Vols now instead of Vandy. Douche bag-extraordinaire.

The OP is blowing this out of proportion. I heard every minute of the afternoon show yesterday. Plaster didn't make a huge stink about it, he just brought it up, which is exactly what he is paid to do. He has a valid point about TJ, now what TJ does with it is another story, but he has a point.

Also, for anyone bashing 104.5, they talk about the Vols ALL THE TIME, all of the local shows. They have a pretty decent lineup throughout the day, and have some excellent guests to speak to as well.

I've lived in Knoxville and Nashville, and Knoxville's sports radio is complete garbage compared to what 104.5 brings. It's night and day.

104.5 does a TON of Vol coverage, and every single show personality brings up the point almost daily that they don't cover nearly as much Vandy stuff as UT stuff because of the huge discrepancy in the fanbase.

Ease off a bit, they do a good job.

All false statements.

I didn't hear it but even though 104.5 is the VolNetwork in Nashville, it will always be the biggest Vanderbilt homer

I've lived in this market most of my life. Mark Howard, along with Plasters aftenoon show...(Suck) period.

I like Wycheck @ Ingram in the morning and the 3 hour lunch even though Travis can be a tool.. JMO

I have stopped listening to the Zone. About 1.5 years now,

Yeah, it's getting harder and harder to listen to that station. I do however love the 3 Hour Lunch with Dougherty and Travis. Blaine Bishop I could do without, but he's even grown on me.

I can't stand Plaster. I use to live in Alabama & we got Finebaum all the time(biggest bammer homer ever). Got to the point I just couldn't listen to him at all. I've got to the point now where I can't listen to Plaster. He just says some really stupid things.

George Plaster said something yesterday on the radio that caught my attention. He was peeved because Knoxville gets College Gameday this weekend in spite of the turmoil surrounding our team and the absence of Bruce Pearl, and he was trying to pose the question of why Vanderbilt isn't on the national stage.

This led him to take it a step further and speculate that Tony Jones had something to gain from Bruce's suspension, which, in my opinion, is an outlandish claim. Did any of you happen to hear it as well? What do you all think?

who the hell is george plaster...?

Tony Jones isnt gaining anything with his 0-2 start to a team he should have beaten on the road and a team that he had a chance to beat at home. If he drops a game to Vandy on saturday then he might as well pack it up.

Agreed. Jones has done absolutely nothing to enhance his position as a possible head coach for anyone. Losing to Arkansas, who lost last night to a very poor LSU team, and going to Williams for the last shot that could have won the Florida game has done nothing to enhance his standing. Going to Williams is very similar to just turning the ball over in that situation.

I have lived in Nashville all my 54 years except the 4 great ones in ktown(UTK78). I can assure you the UT admin has done a great diservice to all UT alum and fans by signing with 104.5. They are so biased it makes Paul Finebaum look like a UT shield. I tuned in 2 Tuesdays for BBall and had to listened to the Jeff Fisher show. We have no media presence in Middle TN. I want WLAC or WSIX back.

Come to think of it, when Plaster did his sports show on WWTN some ten years ago, I could sense a bit of bias in the dialogue of the show. I remember it being what he called "Football Friday", where callers call in and show their allegiance to their teams, and if their display was subpar, they would play a sound effect of a gong to show their displeasure.

There was a woman who called in and was halfway through the first verse of "Rocky Top" when the gong sounded. Seemed a little biased, don't you think?
