What is with the predictions and the sense of almost entitlement... From reading some of you, I'd think we already beat South Carolina by 2 TDs... The game is a week away and this team has not earned anything yet... Yes, they're trying hard and they're moving in the right direction and there's a good vibe around the program in general, but come on... Let's move back towards reality a little bit...

There are people talking about how we could beat Alabama because they only beat Kentucky 48-7... I mean, that is literally a thing on here... :banghead2: I don't know where it's coming from or what it's logically based on... And please don't feed me "Well fan is degum short for dang 'fanatic', durr...", that's not profound, it's just an attempted justification for stupidity... Chalking up South Carolina as a win is just the dumbest thing I've ever seen... I think UT can win, but I'm not feeding myself false hope that will only lead to disappointment if they don't win...

Good post. You will get a bashing, but still a good post.
I think we have a real shot at winning next Saturday, but to write it off as a sure win is just plain stupid. If things go badly, prepare for the meltdown.

The majority will be pleased with six wins. We all would like a signature win and South Carolina could be it.

Agree with the OP. USCe played their most complete game yesterday. With UF and UGA losing, that also helped them tremendously. I don't think they will be sleep walking in Neyland, like I thought they might before. This Saturday is going to be a tough game. We could win it if USCe is inconsistent and turns the ball over, etc. but it will be tough.

Nothing has changed in the last two weeks that has appreciably changed our overall lack of talent and depth in key areas.

USC has the best RB we have seen all year and the QB is underrated. Their defense is weak so Worley and the crew better be sharp if we want a chance.

A lot of peeps predicting we beat USC, but not sure if anyone noticed they hung 52 on Arky at their place yesterday. Arky is not that much worse than we are, statistically speaking.

LATEST UPDATE: Negotiations continue between Jones and Spurrier over the final score of next Saturday's game. Complicating matters is the fact that, if a pre-determined score is not agreed upon prior to 12:01 pm next Saturday, there is the threat of a "scoreboard default", in which case the actual score would have to be used.

Go Vols.

Ummm what?? I've never heard anyone say that Connor Shaw is underrated. Everyone knows this kid is a huge threat. He can run, throw, and is very smart with the ball...not to mention the kid is a winner.

While I'm firmly in that camp, I think its lower than 99%. Remember, there were plenty of 8-4 and 9-3 predictions on pre-season threads.

I don't blame anyone for preseason visions of grandeur. Every July I assume we'll be hoisting the crystal ball the following January.

However, I firmly believe most fans adjust those dreams after the opening kickoff.

As long as the overconfidence is limited to some on this board, we'll be okay. And, I'm fairly confident, CBJ will make sure the team isn't buying into this stuff. I expect them to be ready to play Saturday, give the cocks a good game, maybe pull off a win and go on to win 6 games. But, I have no idea which 3 games they're going to move into the win column. They all look tough from where I'm sitting.
