I don't blame Milton on this play at all. The official came in and reset the ball. It honestly looked like they had blown everything dead allowing UF to sub. I can see the confusion on this play for our entire offense.

But this is where a savvy qb takes control of things. Yes…it was confusing as to why the official temporarily stopped and reset the ball but after about 3 seconds it became apparent the all was spotted and ready for play because the official scurried out of there quickly.
Honestly, watching it in real time I thought the official thought tn was subbing but and ran back in there but then quickly realized we weren’t.

So I can’t for the life of me understand why this isn’t being extensively talked about. But on the play where the official kicked the ball…We gave up an easy opportunity at a first down and free play. It was obvious when it happened. I didn’t know why the official came back in after initially spotting the ball, but he quickly respotted the ball and then hustled back out of the way. The center had the ball and you could tell we were ready to go.

Yet, Florida decides to sub and you see their entire front line cross the line of scrimmage jogging towards their sidelines. I was screaming at the TV snap the ball… Snap the damn ball! Milton just stared at the sidelines (like the deer in the headlights) for what seems like forever. It almost felt like we waited until their entire new unit came in and got set. What the hell were we waiting for? Our center had the ball in the official wasn’t standing in his vicinity. We were clearly ready for play.

Were the coaches screaming at him to snap the ball? We gave up such an easy opportunity at a first down there.

Some people on here can’t see beyond the stats with Milton (which aren’t horrific) and say he’s not great, but he’s not terrible. But I’d argue there are so many little things a qb does that make an offense work. And he doesn’t do most of those extra/veteran/savvy things. He burned 2 TOs on the first drive the second half. We had to burn one TO coming out of a tv timeout. They kept disguising their defense and around eight seconds left on the play clock would shuffle around. Almost every time Milton would react by trying to change the play. You can’t do that on the road. Everybody knows that. It’s literally the whole basis for the crowd making noise when the home team is on defense.

He just can’t process a lot of information at once (as great qbs need to do). The qbs job is to keep the chains moving. It’s that simple. You keep the chains moving most of the time, you will win most of the time.

Milton is never making the savvy plays (you sometimes see other qbs make) to keep the chains moving. He throws the ball down the field into tight coverage on third and six when there is a clear open running lane. Or he’ll throw short of the sticks when that is clearly what the defense hopes for as they’ve intentionally left a cushion there.
Really? this is a bit of a stretch. Him staring at the coaches is what hes supposed to do. He is getting a hold signal from the signal callers incase Heupel wants to change the play. Us not getting the 1st down there is on the offensive line and donte thorten not blocking period. And on the 2pt conversion where he ran out of bounds. He had 2wrs stop running, and one completely covered. He chose to take care of the ball instead of handing another gift to Florida. If florida intercepts it there there is noone to tackle them and then they run it back for an extra 2pts. Then you guys would be on here "Why did he throw that, etc etc." Joe doesnt have the best ability to throw it on the run. Maybe Nico does. We as a fan DO NOT know this for sure. Plus you have to think, do you want little ole nico out there running for his life every single play? Are you prepared to get him hurt behind this terrible offensive line? You think Nico is getting these calls in faster than Joe in practice? Im not saying you are wrong for wanting Nico. Joe has his flaws, but its wayyy to early for a QB change. Lets see how this offense does once they get their leader back at Center and Ollie lane goes back to his original position at guard and you have Mincy at right tackle and cambell back at left tackle. This is not the end of the world. we have alot of issues we need to fix. Joe IS NOT at the top of those issues.

So everyone including the announcers were confused on what was going on yet the QB should have automatically known? I will agree that the offense thus far has struggled to maintain the same speed with JM. You would think they have 2 hotcall plays always in play for this exact situation.
