Pete Hegseth, Trump Dept of Defense nominee…

Hillary was using a normal e-mail server in her house for classified. This was an encrypted app used for non-classified information.

Do you really think anyone is buying the notion that this was unclassified ?

Of all the lame arguments the administration has offered, this one, by far, is the most idioitc.

Technically it's unclassified if the administration says it's unclassified.

Exactly. Argument is should it have been classified.

There is really no argument that Goldberg shouldn’t have been in there. Whether he was added from malice or incompetence doesn’t matter. Whoever added him should be fired. Probably going to say Walz contacts were hacked and modified at some point soon imo.

Technically you're a dumbass if you believe launch information in unclassified information. I guess going forward, they can just post all information on X.

Well you just proved how ignorant you are of the subject. Outside of nuclear weapons POTUS can declare anything unclassified. He needs no ones approval, permission or review. So if the administration says it wasn't classified, it wasn't classified.

Are you claiming it wasn't classified at the time it was divulged? They can certainly declassify it after-the-fact in a weak attempt at saving face, but if you believe it wasn't classified at the time then, well, bless your heart.

I believe that it SHOULD have been classified and never put in that chat. But again, if the administration says it wasn't then it wasn't. Why is that so difficult for you to understand?

The people who righteously ****ed up started off their defense with the stupidest bold faced lies that everybody knew weren't true, then as they had more time to think of lies, they pivoted and came up with a better one. It was never classified. OK. Sure. Some people buy that. It's not worth arguing with them about it, I can tell you that much.

The guy with classification authority says its unclassified, now you can have the opinion that it should be classified just like you could say George Bush shouldn't have disclosed shock and awe.

Not sure what the difficulty is here?

Of all the lame arguments the administration has offered, this one, by far, is the most idioitc.

But its not really an argument, its a fact.

that all got cleared BEFORE it went to the news. that is the difference. it was purposefully released AFTER it had been reviewed and approved to be shared.

surely you see a difference between a group chat between cabinet members and a press conference in front of the media.

Approved by whom? Himself? He is the head of the agency with classification authority.

If he deemed it unclassified, he could have had it in front of the media. Which is basically what the Bush administration did with shock and awe. You guys are confusing opinion with a fact, the classification authority said it was unclass. You are free to have the opinion that it should be classified, the fact is it wasn't. Just like shock and awe material was unclass to give to the media so they could set up their cameras.

A select few are unable to figure out one is a fact and the other is an opinion.

How did Trump preemptively declassify the information, when he says didn't even know about the chat?

Whether it was classified or not is not material as he was the head of the agency and had classification authority, so he has declassification authority. If the data, information or record was originated by another agency, than declassification would be more complex... that is not an issue here.

Executive Orders

Several, just like you. But it's whether the info included in the chat was classified is not worth arguing about since the administration says it wasn't classified.
This is technically correct, but one has to wonder had this never happened if the administration would considered the information classified.

It's hard for me to think that from a national security concern perspective the information was unclassified, which leaves the administration saying its's unclassified as political CYA. In that case, it's almost a worse look for the admin for using national security as a political safety net.

Some of this is similar to the GWB days in the lead up to Iraq. Unless Bob Woodward's book was a complete fabrication it clearly detailed how the GWB administration would intentionally classify/de-classify information depending almost exclusively on if it supported the WMD narrative. It's a slippery slope when classification determinations are made for political reasons and not national security...and generally doesn't work out very well in the end.

I 100% agree.
